Has there ever been a player more talked about than Lebron James?

This topic isn’t helping the situation but god damn.

Tell me older ranters. Was it this way back in the 90s with Jordan or not nearly as bad? I cannot escape even local news without hearing Lebron. Social media and more exposure obviously helps but I guess I don’t really have room to talk.

My favorite team and coach, the crimson tide and Nick Saban, are pretty much always in he CFB news.

People argue that no one cares what he thinks, but every time he throws his opinion in the ring, it's mass hysteria. I'm not sure how you (the collective you, not the OP) can reconcile those two things?

I have a friend who thinks LBJ is the be all, end all, greatest player ever and a brave man for standing up to the woman who told him to shut up and play basketball. He also thinks LeBron doesn't have nearly as much control over who plays with him as some of us think he does. In regards to Wiggins/Love, IT trade, the other players around him.

I've decided not to argue with him about this because his opinions show he has no idea what he is talking about. I can't imagine trying to explain the racial slur that was supposedly on LBJ's house.

ETA. Needed to vent that..as for the question..Tiger, MJ, Muhammad Ali, Babe Ruth were all bigger relative to their times..James is the only one of those excluding Tiger who played during the age of social media..that is the only reason why he is as 'big' as people think

Muhammad Ali says hello.

I know not technically a player, but a sports figure, and at one time the most recognized face in the world.

In the mid-late 1960s, Muhammad Ali essentially ran the world, he was bigger than life same with Michael and Tiger during their primes, LeBron in ways is bigger than life currently but since the social media market is so diluted he isn't considered in that "God" light my theory at least, every great player across many sports today essentially has a massive brand

He is the first global superstar of the social media era. So it kind of makes sense for him to receive this type of attention.

He's a super attention whore

Jordan, once the Bball game was over, did his own thing. Gambling, gambling, and gambling. He didn't have time for the high school shite.

This. With social media being non existent in his prime he was huge. LeBron tweeting makes him bigger than he would be.

Jordan and Tiger both said zero about politics. Singular focus and each had a vice. One gambling and the other pussy. Both, very smartly stayed away from politics.

I wish he would go the hell away.

Tired of hearing about him.
