Seems like they throw these random flags for the sake to keep the games closer.

Obviously yes. The NFL not stepping in and making huge changes shows us fans that this is what they expect.

The unnecessary roughness on Mahomes was egregiously bad and just the NFL protecting their new diva.

The no call on the ensuing obvious PI was probably to make up for the egregiously bad unnecessary roughness call.

The stopped forward progress was an insanely bad call that I rack up to truly incompetent officiating.

The no PI call on the hail mary seemed fair, both sides were jostling pretty hard and is a pretty consistent no call at least.

They absolutely need to go to a ref in the booth watching the all 22 with a buzzer. Wouldn’t take time and would make a huge difference

Where there are humans there will be mistakes.

European Soccer has somehow found a way to take their review process (which is basically what you suggested) and screw up the matches even more.

That version of officiating is what I call "manufacturing drama". This is when they make shitty calls both ways in order to make a game more interesting. Of course, you also can't touch Mahomes or it is a penalty.

Rigging is when it all clearly goes one way, which also happens quite often.

The NFL and SEC have the rigging part down to a science.

I feel like it has steadily gotten worse at all levels from high school through the pros.

In order of impact:
- Missed interference call on MVS. This missed call was embarrassing.
- Forward progress call allowed the clocked to be stopped with no Chiefs timeouts remaining.
- Hit on Mahomes - I don’t think this was a penalty. He wasn’t out of bounds (yet) and wasn’t sliding
- Interference during Hail Mary. Rarely, if ever, called.
