Dumb take, you don't risk ruining the career of the best gymnast ever AND costing your team a medal just to say "I tried".
If someone can't compete it's next (wo)man up.
She wasn't able to perform her routine as we saw when she tried.
Austen Matthews (leading scorer in the NHL) had to miss a playoff game this year because his body wasn't up to the task, nothing to do with not wanting to be out there. He gave it a shot the next game and was ineffective.
The way gymnastics works is so different than other sports because you only get 1 chance at your routine. U cant give it a shot and get subbed out 3 minutes in if you don't feel right. If you go in for your 1 run at beam and frick up, you cost your team.

Some of you need to get a grip. The mental gymnastics (ISWYDT) used to call a woman mentally weak who happens to have the MOST Olympic gold medals in women's gymnastics* in the history of the United States is crazy. She's performed at the highest stage of and succeeded multiple times.

So his was a physical issue?
Bikes has said over and over hers was mental

Lol. The only thing she was risking was her ego when she would have not won. She wasn’t on her A game and she walked out pouting.
But y’all continue to eat up all the excuses she and everyone around her continue to put out there.

That's the biggest hole in their entire argument.
I could go along with their theory that she is too mentally weak to get it done if she hadn't already don't it more than anyone else in history.

According to other Olympic gymnasts that is not true and she was at severe injury risk. Show me your gymnastics credentials (besides mental gymnastics) and I'll consider your opinion on the matter with theirs. Until you show me where you have ever performed gymnastics at a high level, your opinion is meaningless compared to those who have.

Eventually all that pressure to keep doing it again and again hits a breaking point.
We saw what happened at that breaking point. She collapsed and walked out after not being her best.

You think other gymnasts are going to come out against her?
Especially as a black female? Lol

She couldn’t perform, would’ve hurt the team and likely gotten injured. If she’s back we need her

Didn’t she remove herself after the cut off, not allowing a replacement/alternate to be submitted?

Internet D-bags weren't the ones putting GOAT and sequined goats on their uniforms only to quit though.

There it is.
She gets more shite than Ryan Lotche, someone who is a literal disgrace, and it's asinine.

My thing isn’t that she quit, hey if the pressure is too much, I get it, step aside, let someone else take your place and you go get yourself right, especially since the Olympics really aren’t all THAT serious - it’s literally called the Olympic GAMES after all.
What pissed me off is she knew she wasn’t right and wasn’t going to be able to compete and still went to Tokyo anyways, taking the spot of someone who could actually compete and represent our nation. She became a distraction (i don’t put that 100% on her). Rather than the attention being about the young women who were competing, it was about her not competing.
But anyways, gymnastics isn’t a sport I care much of anything about in general so it’s no big skin off my back but with the 475 Olympic commercials I’ve been seeing on USA/NBC/Peacock every day and most featuring her, it does get annoying (and I don’t blame her one bit for their annoying arse marketing).

She had the yips. Same as chuck knoblauch did for a stretch while playing with the Yankees.
Only difference is the yips caused knoblauch to airmail routine throws into the stands behind first base. Biles' yips could have resulted in very serious injury.

Hard to say she didn't compete. She still got us an individual bronze medal in Beam and her score was part of team silver in the overall.
Was there someone left off the team that could've done better than bronze on individual beam? Sunisa Lee didn't and she was the overall gold.

that is to risk yourself
Y’all keep saying she was in this huge risk of possible death.
She’s said countless times in her own words that she withdrew to step back for a moment and focus on her mental health because she was struggling with the pressure. Nobody is making that up. That’s her words. She couldn’t handle the social media pressure either.
She said the Olympics weren’t fun anymore because she wasn’t competing for herself anymore, and competing for others. Wellllll yea it’s the fricking Olympics and you’re part of the team program. You’re competing for yourself, your team, and your country.
Pressure got to her, plain and simple, and she quit. And “mental health” is just the easy excuse people want to use for quitting.
