oh, and a little backstory. I play twice a month on the weekends in tourneys.

It's called a HOBBY. Some people like hunting. Some people like fishing. Some people like golf. No one has an issue with any of that, correct?

We're older now and play in the lowest league possible, but we still have a blast. ...and no, we don't talk shite all day. The mexicans are the WORST at it.

About 3 weeks ago, we played in a tourney in College Station. 128 teams. Director make 6 digits on the entry fee alone. It was an around the clock tourney. (I'm in the wrong business)

Our games? 4am, 8pm, 2am, and 6am. By that last game, it really didn't matter the outcome. It was time to get some sleep. We do one of these all nighters once a year.

But.....my days are coming to an end though. Once my kids get old enough, it's time to let them play and help coaching them.

See? I have a plan. I know 2 other posters in this thread that plays tourney ball as well.

U mad?

(BTW, props for playing at 4AM. If some tourney director at a rugby tournament were to say, "hey, you guys have a 4AM match" I'd probably punch him in the balls)

Exactly the plan i'm following, been having the same tournament team for the last 10 years, we only play 2 weekends out of the month now b/c of kids, wives etc. Also getting harder to compete with the young guys when we try to drink all the beer in the park

We try to play in one all day and nighter a year, we use to just play in the cajun classic which is this weekend but they haven't been more than 25-30 teams it's def. not like it use to be. The people talking trash/shite thing we deal w/all the time but we just laugh it off esp. when you have your towel monogrammed sticking out the back of your cool little baseball pants = douche

To be fair, when I rant against softball, it's these guys against whom I'm ranting.

Nah. Just explaining to the guy why alot of these guys play. It's a small community of players, but it is what it is. I'm sure you have the same if you play Rugby similarly.

But you would go play, nonetheless. Because that's what you do.

There will be some bickering between teams, but for the most part, everyone isn't like that. There ARE bad apples and I know EXACTLY the kinda guy you're talking about. Rolling up there with sweatbands on both knees and elbows. Oakleys and face paint.

Like I said though, the MEXICANS take this shite REALLY seriously. You should hear those guys over in Texas.

We're playing on the 2nd. ...and yeah, used to love playing in the Classic. Now the owners and Boudreaux have completely driven that one in the ground. We're going anyhow. I'm sure there will be some MS and AL teams to play.

OK, you have more proof than i do so i guess i should acquiese. but, of course, i'm hard headed. i didn't see in that article where the US army mobile radar verified his speed. and i'm extemely suspect of radar guns, esp in the era you mentioned because i have seen some unbelievable readings by high school kids that turned out to be wrong when they advanced to college and pro scouts began to shoot them with much superior equipment. however, i believe that a human can hit 100 or slightly more and at 45+ feet that would be virtually unhittable. hell, you would have to begin your turn before the pitcher released the ball. nevertheless, fast pitch men's softball played by men in their prime has got to be the most boring game on earth. most batters are lucky to hit a foul ball. even w/o competing avenues of entertainment the game would have died. slo-pitch is played for fun and is much more entertaining for spectators and participants alike. i agree with you basic premise though.

You know 1...I'm out broham. I would get out at the worst possible time. The team I played with last year was #1 in the nation and won 40+ in a row to start the year. They went 3-2 in College Station. Started out 3-0, then got into the beer too much from what I was told. They won the Blake McKay last week, cutting NOLA Elite 24-10 and LA Classic in the If game. Classic won the tourney in College Station btw.

We've played twice there and one in College Station so far this season. Will probably go back once or twice more this year and that'll be it.

We have the Cajun Classic on the 2nd and the WSL/ASA SW Champ. in Lake Charles on the 23rd. That's going to be our two for June ....oh, and league on Tues. and Thurs.

Yeah we'll be there too on the 2nd as well. Boudreaux has killed USSSA softball, he's such a douche, we usually play non-sactioned tourney now b/c of USSSA been thinking about more WSL. Yeah they'll be some teams from ALA and MS i'm sure it use to be fun back in the early 2000's. The D Classic tournament is this weekend with the E next weekend. I recently moved to Texas and your right Texas teams are completely different from Louisiana teams. I still drive in on the weekend to play Friday nights at Pelican twice a month when we play those weekends. Pelican Park has to be some of the areas these people are running into the douchebag ball players. We never see them at Bank St. or Catahoula. Pelican Park mgmt. lets these pricks run down there park.

Pathetic.

Those who do play slow-pitch can't hack it now, if they ever could to begin with.
