It’s all about perspective. Sometimes you have to take a step back and see the world from the view of others. Sounds simple, but it’s damn near impossible to get people to understand your viewpoint without having traveled that same path as you.

This thread proves his point. Whenever people start talking racism or racists. A certain demographic of people starts getting angry and judgmental.

I understand what he's saying, and yes we have racists in this country, and that's unfortunate. But that doesn't make the US a "racist country" as a whole.

In the entire history of fricking civilization, there has not been a country (a global superpower at that) that has done as abrupt and thorough a 180 on race relations as the USA. Does that mean that we've reached nirvana and there are never any racial issues ever? Of course not. But in the entirety of human history, there has never been a better time to be a minority than being a minority in the USA in 2018. Never. Ever. And it ain't even close.

So tired of people like him trotting out 1960s era rhetoric to attempt to paint the problems of today in the same light. It's disingenuous, deceptive, and divisive.

The USA in 2018 is not a racist country. Nor has it been for longer than I've been alive, tbqh. It's a slap in the face to those who actually fought for real civil rights to intimate otherwise.

I have no problem calling out racism when I see it. Pop is making a nuisance of himself blathering on about this shite when 1.) the USA isn't a racist country, and 2.) Spurs fans don't give a shite--we want another parade on the Riverwalk.

That's what I'm angry about. I'm judging his actions accordingly. He's the best basketball coach in the league right now. One of the best all-time. And instead of honing in on title #6 like Nick Saban just got through doing in his sport, he's getting into these little sideshows that don't do us any fricking good on the court.

I wish I knew. Obviously it can start with just being kinder to each person you meet, but it's hard to believe that will just happen overnight. I think one of the biggest things is interacting with all types of different people and learning why they're the way they are. A lot of people (regardless of race) tend to generalize without getting to actually know someone, and even if that person fits the generalization they're written off without understanding why that person is the way they are.

All he has to do is look out on the court.

There aren't any Chuck Coopers out there on his court and 4 white guys.

Solid rant. I wish people would just remember that sports are entertainment. Nobody is paying for your progressive lectures.

So we're a racist country even though we not only elected but reelected a black dude with a Muslim sounding name as POTUS?
Poor guy is just dripping with white guilt.

Here's some attention, Pinata, so you don't have to post the same shite a third time on the same page in hopes of getting a bite.

Good Lord, son

Thats a true statement. I only have to pay taxes. I think we finally got rid of the Obamacare mandate that forces me to purchase health insurance. If that’s not official then I have to do two things. Listening to and agreeing with Greg Popovich is not something I have to do.

This is a legit question. Diversity has become synonymous with few to no white people.

Pop trying to make his social impact bc he knows he won’t win another title. Let him be. He has earned the right to speak his mind.

Well, I could be wrong, but I believe diversity is an old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era

Morey disprespected the spurs in front the whole country and said we are worried about beating GSW. We ain’t worried one iota about spurs.

AND not a damn thing pop can do about it. Pop knows that. That’s why he move on to politics.
