He has a very good backup. Besides Roy no one on that team logs a ton of minutes. They have a very deep bench. Oden fouls too much imo but is allowed to be aggressive considering he has a backup that can really contribute. He does need to work on his fouls as there is a decent chance pryzbilla doesn't resign after the year.

right.

also, i think it would be unwise to play Oden a ton of minutes anyway. He is finally looking decent, why push his body too hard and have him get injured or wear down? It takes a really special big man to log tons of minutes and stay effective.

I don't think the comparisons were to Kareem, more like Bill Russell. And he's no Bill Russell, but he is going to be an animal on the defensive end of the floor in a couple of years..

It was tossed around by lots of people.

Shot blockers get dunked on. That is just a fact. Alot of centers will stay on the ground just to avoid getting dunked on. In todays game some even try to take the charge! ugh

and was also touted as the best prospect since kareem, Ewing, and several other historically great big men of yesteryear. We have been through this before Lester, search my old posts if you want a refresher.

His hype was unbelievably over the top based on his skill sets.

oden could have a hall of fame career and people will still give him shite if he's not the best center of all time b/c some media people and some nba player personnel people compared him to kareem.

I must be missing something because other than maybe a couple of outlets here and there saying silly stuff, I remember Howard getting WAY more pub coming out as a potential star than Oden.
