The good thing about Pete is that it doesn't matter if you're biased, his game stands by itself.

check his stats, he put up quite a few later in his career.

In '86-'87 when MJ averaged 37 PPG, he made a grand total of 12 threes for the year. How do you explain that?

In college, yes. In the pros, not even close to #23.

The whole point of this thread is that you can't say one guy is better than the other when they played so far apart. It's like comparing Babe Ruth to A-Rod, minus the Roids.

Yeah all my fave did was deliver a National Championship in one of the greatest College Football Seasons of All Time by any team but I'm sure that can't match what you got.

Thanks Froman, you get it! It's not taking anything away from Mike or any of today's players, I love today's game and players- Pete really paved the way for the sport to become as dynamic as it is today! I wish they style of play in the NBA was like back then. Nearly every team took the first available shot, fastbreaking was the norm, and scoring was almost always in the 110 range. In the 70's, Burger King would give away french fries at 110 points and I got a lot of free fries!

Sorry you must be too young to have experienced the "Pistol" era- Nothing or nobody caused so much excitement and attention without much media at the time! The media is now the primary promoter of players!

the same could be said for Jordan in the NBA which is why Pete isn't the ONLY 23. Arguably the greatest NBA player of all time is going to get the nod there. If you ask 100 people what they thing of the number 23, 99 will say MJ
