1990 Ruston High. I was a sophomore at Tech that year and got to see them play every home game. Double digit Division I signees off that team.
Who were the star players? For those of us who were born that fall

That 2008 Destrehan team was loaded with D1 talent. Best high school team I have seen play in person. They won the 5A State Championship with ease that season.

I'm only 23, but I assumed Peyton would've won state.
Newman isn't really a football factory. They had the Mannings and OBJ, but other than that they don't really pump out the football players.

They have a D1 player every other year, but the rest of the team are a bunch of undersized uptown kids. THeyre usually competitive but thats not going to cut it against a bunch of hosses from out in the country.

they were like watching men against boys. How did they assemble teams like that?

Weren't there some fairly recent John Curtis teams that finished #1 in the country?

Didn't WM beat Evangel during the 2001 regular season at the independence bowl stadium?

I remember people on Ken Ramsey speculating that they were getting kids from Texas and Arkansas to come and play. Any truth to that?

you hear stories about it. Hell, there must be some truth to it. That school cant produce that much talent. Its too small. Of course they recruit

Yes they were. I was in the dome that year to watch them blow Ruston out of the water in the second half. Tight game at the half but when they came out in the second, got damn.
