That 2008 Destrehan team was loaded with D1 talent. Best high school team I have seen play in person. They won the 5A State Championship with ease that season.

Newman isn't really a football factory. They had the Mannings and OBJ, but other than that they don't really pump out the football players.

They have a D1 player every other year, but the rest of the team are a bunch of undersized uptown kids. THeyre usually competitive but thats not going to cut it against a bunch of hosses from out in the country.

Ruston finished the season undefeated and ranked #1 in USA TODAY top 25.

Beat catholic I believe by like 45 points in the dome

all centered around advanced QBs for the HS level. you just dont see guys like that anymore

I remember people on Ken Ramsey speculating that they were getting kids from Texas and Arkansas to come and play. Any truth to that?

you hear stories about it. Hell, there must be some truth to it. That school cant produce that much talent. Its too small. Of course they recruit

Yes they were. I was in the dome that year to watch them blow Ruston out of the water in the second half. Tight game at the half but when they came out in the second, got damn.
