One of the examples that come to mind is Ernie Davis, best player in college football highest paid rookie ever in 1962 and would have been in the same backfield as Jim Brown that would have been something a lot of people would love to see.

Herb Score. 36-19 in 2 seasons before his face was destroyed and he was nearly blinded by a line drive.

Ernie Davis was a great call.

Bill Walton and Bo Jackson were the first two guys that came to my mind.

Elite players before their injuries and were still pretty decent after their injuries.

Ricky Bell

The disease that caused his death started affecting him as soon as he got to the Pros as he was always complaining about fatigue.

Never really got to show what he had against the Pros. Once carried the ball 51 times against Wazzu.

Finished 3rd in the Heisman behind Dorsett.

Mario Lemieux.

Scored 199 points in his best season. And just when he was hitting his prime, his back gave out and he came down with Hodgkins.

Bo Jackson. Injury took him out way too early.

Barry Sanders.

1. Lions forcing retirement, he could have played at a high level for many more years.

2. If he didn't play for the Lions his entire career. That offense was terrible during his time. The age old debate of if Barry played behind that Cowboys line of the 90's what would he have been like.

KEN GRIFFEY JR!!!

He would easily be the all-time home run king had the second half of his career not been non-existent. He would also be known as the greatest player to play clean in the steroid era.

Isn't he already known as the greatest clean player in the steroid era?

Yeah, we didn't see the best of Ken Griffey Jr. He only hit 56 HRs and drove in 147 runs in 1997. If we had really seen the best of Ken Griffey Jr., he would have had a season with 75 HRs and 220 RBI.

Griffey is the perfect answer. He was great, one of the best, but he could have had several all-time records if he could have stayed healthy

Andy Katzmoyer suffered a neck injury during his first season with the Patriots that eventually forced him to have surgery and miss half of the 2000 season. During training camp in 2001, Katzenmoyer walked out citing concern about a feeling in his neck.

Penny Hardaway is another player who was one of the best up and coming point guards in the Leauge and the suffered knee problems.

What about Aryvdas Sabonis dude didn't even get a chance to play in the NBA until he was practically handicapped, and still average over 15 ppg his rookie season.
