I had a 4.5 and the two NAIA schools I talked to said...uh no thanks.
You didn't know the right people lol. Having connections makes a difference.
I've obviously not claiming to be good. Just that I was on the team.

One of them was the golf team my Dad was the former coach of and also a former golfer there.

Even when I was learning golf in the early 1970s, we were all taught the overlap grip.
Nicklaus was the prominent interlocker on the tour.
And then there is the Vardon grip...

Learned interlock as a kid and it was easier then when my hands were smaller. Stuck with it ever since

In 5 years an overlap grip will be an abnormality on tour. It will be at least 75% interlock

The Vardon is the overlap, no?

Why? What's your theory?

Kids are playing golf earlier and earlier. They're using an interlock grip at these young ages and they keep it that way. It's already up quite a bit.

TMB. Not sure where u got that from. But with all the better kids clubs and smaller grips most teach baseball until they get to about 9-10 then teach overlap. So I'd have to respectfully disagree. And this is from most of the state of Texas pros I talk too. Which are one of the top jr programs in the country.

7-8 gd top 100 teachers. Although very rarely will a teacher change someone between interlock and overlap grips if they already have one.

I used an interlock until about 15/16, and began to fight a hook as I was getting stronger . So, dad switched me overlap to quiet the right hand.
Been that way since

I don't have enough movement in my wrists...so maybe switching to overlap could help?

You're a handle dragger? Hit a lot of low shots?
