Held Clemson to fewer points than Ohio State did.

And how many points did they hold Texas to? Vandy? Ole Miss? I could go on.

Again, offensively a great team. Burrow was on point all season.

Third string QB kneeled it at the Florida 3 per the Link.
If their 3rd string QB did that, then Florida obviously wasn't very good, or at a minimum wasn't trying.

Did you watch any of those games? The defense wasn't bad, I just don't think they cared to put effort into every play when LSU was up 30 points.

This team would beat that Nebraska team by 40

LSU '19 is in the top five, but that defense is not the level it needs to be for GOAT. I think it finished the season ranked 30th? The Nebraska '95 running game would have turned this LSU defense to pulp.

Probably. Miami was up 34-0 at the half and let off the gas heavily in the second or it would have been a 50+ point win.

The 2001 Nebraska team was weak and any of the GOAT contenders would lay a beatdown on them.

Nebraska was just THAT good. Florida was a legit #2 and threw everything they had at Nebraska.

Keep in mind Ahman Green was the backup RB. He was a great RB (and had a solid NFL career)

1995 was 25 years ago.
These players are FAR more advanced than the 95 team.

This LSU team would destroy them. As would any of the other top 5 team of this year.

The athletes are far superior.

All the modern GOAT contenders had loaded rosters. Like you said, Nebraska's second stringer was Ahman Green.

2001 Miami was even more comical. They had Clinton Portis, Frank Gore, Willis McGahee, Najeh Davenport and Jarrett Payton. 3 Pro Bowlers and 5 NFL players...just at RB.

01 Miami probably has a better defense, but burrow easy over Ken Dorsey

03-04 usc was elite

But this isn't about who would win in a game.

This is about who was the better team across college football that year.

I don't know how it factors into GOAT discussion, but it's pretty impressive that this defense was basically built as the season went on, and as we adapted to having this GOAT offense.

I'm sure no one outside of LSU can quite appreciate how far the defense came. That's fine with me.

We are champs, we won all the awards, we beat everyone that mattered, including 29-0 Clemson by 17 even though we played a relatively sloppy game.

Don't act like you don't know that LSU would have whipped Ohio State just like we did in 2007.

Can't dismiss them, 15-0 and defeating the teams they did speaks for itself but this is the history of the sport we're talking about here. We've got the Army teams of the mid-40s, the Oklahoma teams of the 50s, the 1971 Nebraska Cornhuskers, the 1972 USC Trojans, the USC teams of the late 70s, the 1979 Alabama Crimson Tide, the Miami teams of the 80s, the 1988 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers, the 1999 Florida State Seminoles, the 2001 Miami Hurricanes, the mid-2000s USC teams, etc. There's so many legendary teams out there, obviously give 2019 LSU their rightful credit but a debate of the

Agreed. And I have not said otherwise once.

This thread however was about GOAT.

You just won the NC. Stop being so defensive and enjoy it.
