I was too young to have ever seen him play as I am in my mid 30's but Sayers is apart one of my fondest childhood memories and obviously never knew it. My dad met him in New Orleans shortly after I was born and got an autographed picture from Mr. Sayers wishing young Voodoo the best in life. It is just an autographed photo, but it for some reason always represented the bond between me and dad. As I got older (and thanks to NFL films), I learned more about Gale Sayers and how awesome he was as a player. I do recall my dad saying he could not have had a nicer experience meeting him. R.I.P.

Sayers is my all-time favorite running back. There were other great RB's that may have been his equal, but there were none better, IMO.

I had the pleasure of watching a few of his games live.... he was unreal. But then NFL films has ALL his highlights.... it’s amazing how smart it was for NFL films to come around.......

Gale Sayers and Barry Sanders were in a special class.
Its a shame GS was fragile, but he sure was exciting to watch.
He was also always a gentleman.

Sayers did it only 68 games. Five time All-Pro.

Mike Ditka said no one ever ran with a football under his arm like Gale Sayers.

Gale Sayer’s career was cut short by a serious knee injury.
I had the honor to meet both him and his wife at an outing and they both were very gracious people.

RIP Gale Sayers

Bear fans got to watch Gale Sayers and Walter Peyton. That’s not even fair.

And they could have watched Sayers a lot longer, if medical technology had been what it is now.

Ditka also said he loved blocking for Sayers because if you missed your block all you had to do was wait for Gale to come back around and get it then
