Hockey at schools like North Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, pretty much all the Big Ten schools including Notre Dame, several Northeast schools like Boston College and Boston U, maybe I should just say the big time hockey schools, like the top 25 or so. Hockey is bigger than SEC baseball.
Don't believe me? Look up Ralph Engelstad Arena in NoDak, Compton Arena at Notre Dame, Mariucci Arena at Minnesota. Heck, pull up the arenas Nebraska -Omaha or even Augustana (SD) play in. Way more money put into those than your baseball stadiums.

DU goal. This one might be headed to OT.

As much as I love the south and being from here, my work travels to the Midwest and bird hunting in SoDak makes me think I’m more aligned overall to that region
I love the cold, hockey, etc
The quality of people seems the same

Apparently Denver has won 10 NCAA titles?

I never really think of Denver (the school) as being known for much else other than their hockey program, but their men's lacrosse and soccer have had success in recent years, I learned.
The hockey program is elite. Swap out a coach, constant player turnover. On paper they don't have a lot of that wow factor and star power but Pohlkamp has been an awesome add for them, and getting insane goalkeeping from Hicks has boosted them this year.
I was going to say Michigan's roster was loaded up with NTPD kids and CHL players but only 4 from CHL, and I think 2 of them have missed much of the season with injury.

Wow. After everything we've seen in this OT they called THAT penalty? Scoring chance, I suppose.

This game's officiating crew is from Hockey East... and having seen that league plenty over the years, this has to be among the worst group that could've been out there for any game. Tufts is top 3 worst in D1 hockey.

I thought that dude's finger was cut off. Just a lot of blood.

Fingers bleed more than any other body part

There's the makeup call.
Posted on 4/9/26 at 11:08 pm to SoDakHawk
Yep, the other ref knew the original call was stupid

To be fair, stick hit the hands on a scoring opportunity. Yeah, I wouldn't have called it.
Nobody wants a penalty to decide this game.

It was a brush, not a hit. Nobody calls that in OT unless you have a dinner reservation you need to get to.

What a time to be a Michigan fan. Football won a title 2 years ago. Hoops just won one. And hockey is playing in the Frozen 4 now.

If I cross my eyes the Denver players sorta look like the Florida Panthers so go Denver.
Posted on 4/9/26 at 11:51 pm to GoGators1995
I knew that was going to happen. Michigan had been carrying the play, but the longer this went on, I just said to myself, Denver is going to get a shot off and win this.

Poor Michigan and their 72 hour championship drought.
