Pens goal waived off. This is beautiful.

Can't wait to read Hog's post about how the Pens "never get the calls"

Eta: Letang comes unglued at an official and gets a game misconduct.

Amazing. Hornqvist goal disallowed for the wrong reason, then a pileup on Mrazek and now Letang gets 10 minutes.

this detroit win will put them just 1 point behind the pens now. This whole eastern conference is tight.

Love seeing the Pens go down. Such a classless organization.

Really needed that one. Bruins have been unbelievably hot recently (won 7 of 8, and the loss was in OT), and they closed the gap on a Caps, who've been playing 500 hockey as of late. But after losing two straight at home, there was a closed door meeting, and a real focus on bringing some intensity. Trotz said that there's been too many passengers the last few weeks, and he's right.

Now comes three roadies, all of which the Caps will be favored in, followed by a home game against the Devils. Chance to put this thing to bed this next week and get everyone healthy.

Wings did the same thing after getting pounded by Philly yesterday. I think Zetterberg called a meeting. Yahoo even had that as the theme for the day, Caps and Wings needing to save face and stanch the bleeding.

I just want the Wings to hold the 2/3 and not fall into the wild card, though it probably doesn't really matter.

Just avoid the Rangers. I'm dead serious about this. No other seed matters, other than not being the team that plays the Rangers.

Though I was encouraged reading the Rangers' blogs after the Caps games and their general sentiment was "Anyone but the Caps in the first round" (assuming that certain matchups are impossbile).

Yeah, I don't want to see Rangers - Caps in the first round. The Rangers have been playing pretty good lately, but I'd much rather see someone that has a more predictable playoff performance. Like the Penguins.

What was interesting to me was the "why". First off, there's the familiarity. The Rags and Caps have played each other A LOT in the playoffs recently. So there's no intimidation factor (hopefully... I'm f'n terrified).

But really, the blogs were focusing in on the Caps ability to dictate a slow, "heavy" game. Most fast guys are smallish players who avoid contract. The Caps' fastest players are big players who lay the lumber (Ovi, Chimera). We're one of the few teams that use speed to inflict pain. The image of the Caps in the media is of a skilled yet soft team, but this team is nothing like that. This is much more of a physical, grinding team. Popular conception hasn't caught up to reality yet. Firewagon hockey is, sadly, dead (or more accurately, moved to Anaheim).

I say the Rangers should have anyone but Tampa in the playoffs.

If you're a Canadian team and have the first pick are you pressured to take McDavid?

I think Eichel will be in NHL quicker and be more impactful.

Also if you can trade to get one do you?
