Softs are usually faster, hards usually last the longest but are slowest. Mediums are the middle.
But, depending on the track some tires behave differently than expected. And you have to run two different compunds in each race.
Tire strategy can decide races. It's counterintuitive that teams have to decide to go slower to win a race.

Ya, I think the track is quite a bit hotter than the past couple days and the tires arent lasting as long.

Also, hard/medium/softs are not the same every week.
Not sure if this new system is better than 10 compunds system they had a few years ago.
And the teams get to choose how many of each compound they get each weekend. They have to choose weeks ahead of time though.

Crazy how covid is the whole reason they are shite this year.
Had covid not happened their strategy to copy Merc for one year would have been one of thise great F1 stories.
Covid pushed the big rules change to next year, a couple minor rule changes to slow down Merc, and brought in a token system for this year so they can't fix it.
