He's a hell of a coach and was in an impossible situation at ULM.
He also beat the Cajuns as McNeese coach..I remember because I was attending ULL at the time. It was pretty funny.
Good addition to the Napier machine.

He had them on the cusp a couple of years back. The offense was lighting it up and the defense was downright pitiful. They lost many games when the offense put up 40 plus points. If they had anywhere close to an average defense, even by Sunbelt standards, they would've gone to multiple bowl games before last years total collapse. Matt was in charge of the offense. His downfall was not getting the right guys on defense.

You see this all the time in college football. Coach leaves one team and goes coach at the rival team. He will be hated at ULM but loved in ULL.

I don’t think too many any real ULM fans who understand the challenges Viator faced are going to hate him. They realize he started getting some momentum and improvement going, just like Berry did, only to be knee-capped and hamstrung by university leadership.
It’s a story us Cajun fans are all too familiar with. Cajuns and Warhawks might have “hate week” in November, but personally I feel bad for their coaches, athletes and the fans starving for athletic success and a supportive administration.

I feel excited with teh new presdent honestly. I think he'll doa better job of staying out of the way and we'll figure out what this programs true potential is at somepoint. Whether thats a bowl contender or conference doormat.

There seems to be a trend of this when it comes to LSU fans hating on the Cajuns. There's a rumor of a popular LSU blogger that this exact thing happened to.
