1. Floyd Mayweather
quote:

He's beaten more world champions than any other fighter. He's done it in a shorter period of time and he's done it in less fights. Record breaking numbers all around the board, pay-per-view, live gate, landed punches at the highest percentage and took less punishment and been world champion 18 years and done it in five different weight classes.

2. Roberto Duran

quote:

He was the guy that came from lightweight and beat Sugar Ray Leonard. He's the first guy to beat Sugar Ray Leonard. He went all the way from lightweight to 160 to become World Champion. I love the guy. He's a legend.

3. Pernell Whitaker

quote:

He knows how to win. He didn't lose until the end of his career. It doesn't matter (that he doesn't have power).
He beat Chavez for real and I'm a Julio Cesar Chavez fan.

4. Julio Cesar Chavez

quote:

Julio Cesar Chavez was 80-0 before he lost and he went to different weight classes.

5. Muhammad Ali

quote:

Muhammad Ali lost to Leon Spinks and Leon Spinks only had seven fights when he beat him. Muhammad Ali was only at one weight class and Ali really lost all three times to Ken Norton. What Ali did was he stood for a cause in an era where African Americans didn't stand up for their people and he stood up for a strong cause in his era.

Too many weight classes under heavyweight. Might have made sense 100 years ago. But the classes are a joke. Average weight for a male in America is like 190, there is 1 weight class above that. There are like 10 under that. There is just no reason for that. Mayweather fights at 135 or around there. I can literally count on my hands the number of adult males I have met in my life that weighed under 140 and all of those guys were under 5'5. I don't get it..

That's not my problem. My problem is there being a weight class for 155 and then a weight class for like 157 and shite and then you hold titles under "5 different weight classes" when you never fluctuated weight really

The average male is overweight and actually closer to 180 lbs.

Fighters lose weight to fight at a lower weight to make an advantage.

Floyd walks around near 155-160 at the heaviest.

A 160lb weight class fighter probably walks around at 175 to 180 depending on who we are talking about.

Not sure what your trying to imply with your comments.

A list like that without Ray Robinson's name on it can be thrown in the garbage.

What's the average weight for a fit American male? See you have to factor out all of the fatties because they wouldn't last 30 seconds in heavy bag training before vomiting.

No, the average weight is 195.5 according to the CDC (LINK /).

No implication needed. There are too many weight classes and world champions. Those titles don't mean anything. There are 13 divisions under middleweight (LINK )). That is just stupid. A guy can go up 28lbs in his career from 126 to 154 and fight in 6 divisions. What does a heavyweight get from adding 28lbs? Lennox Lewis was under 230 when he turned pro and was near 250 when he retired. It did him no good..

Oh there they go. There they go, every time I start talkin 'bout boxing, a white man got to pull Rocky Marciano out their arse. That's their one, that's their one. Rocky Marciano. Rocky Marciano. Let me tell you something once and for all. Rocky Marciano was good, but compared to Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano ain't shite.

The average male isn't 190 when in fighting shape.

Fair enough, what is the average's guy fighting weight? It can't be lower than 160. The weight classes were made before processed foods and hormones. The average guy weight was under 160 back then. Fighting under 150 made sense back then. Not now. So all those lower division titles are fluff.
