Since the players have to sit out for a game, does that mean the owners can skip paying them for that game? I mean, if the players aren’t doing anything for the team that week, should they really get a paycheck? It really makes you think about how compensation works in these situations.

Just add an extra bye week so the season is a week longer. There's only so many games that can be on national TV every week, with the rest being regional markets. Adding another bye week gives the league an extra week's worth of nationally broadcast games to sell to the networks.
Then they can cash in on media rights and pretend to care about player safety by saying they're giving an extra bye week during the season. And just maybe with an extra bye week, the league could figure out how to put together a schedule where teams playing Thursday games would always be coming off a bye week instead of playing on 4 days rest

16 games was perfect. 6 divisional games. 4 NFC matchups with same division. 4 AFC matchups with same division. 2 random matchups (1 AFC, 1 NFC).
Everything else is just pure money related. Although it always was to begin with I suppose.

16 games was plenty. 17 is pushing it. 18 is too many, especially if this clown show crap goes on about "load management".
Yeah. I'm even planning to go watch the Houston Gamblers play in a soccer stadium in April. But there is such a thing as too many games for one set of players.

Loss management is so soft. Part of being great and earning those millions is having the rare ability to elevate your game night in and night out.
