Regardless of how this game turns out it’s clear as day fitzgerald coaches circles around frost. Way less talent but understands what his guys do well and knows how to take advantage of it. Qb 20/23 in the first half due to taking advantage of exactly what Nebraska is giving him. Pat fitz is a legit coach

They’re both painfully mediocre.

Well no shite northwestern is mediocre they’re a fricking power 5 directional school built upon academics. The fact that Nebraska isn’t beating them by 49 speaks volumes to both staffs.

Fitzgerald wouldn't win more than 7 games a year at Florida

I start to think he's a good coach then with a qb that goes 20-23 in the half, he motions him out on first down at the 10 to run the wildcat and gets a delay of game. That was just dumb

They aren't a directional school, they are a private school. The Big 10's version of Duke or Vandy.

this is false. If pat fitzgerald coached at Florida the entire sec would be on notice. He took a perennial doormat program and got them to not only bowl eligibility but also competing for 9/10 wins every 3/4 years or so.

that doesn’t make them any better. Any coach who can win consistently at Stanford, duke, vandy, or northwestern is a good coach

I don't know.

I think Fitz is a GREAT coach, especially for a program like NW.

I don't know if that would necessarily transfer over to a bigger program.

Building a strong underdog program is different than building a powerhouse.

I could see Fitz killing it (routinely ranked in top 25 and often top 10 finishes) at a school like Iowa, NC State, or even Wisconsin though.

Can’t disagree with you after that onside kick.

I agree though it doesn't necessarily transfer to bigger programs 100% of the time.

Harbaugh was great at Stanford and very good in the NFL. I think he's been a bit disappointing at Michigan, but good overall especially compared to Rich Rod and Hoke.

Spurrier was great at Duke and went to a new level at Florida.

Franklin was awesome at Vandy but has been meh at Ped State.

that onside kick call literally didn’t make sense, costed them a TD in record time

Lol, no they wouldn't. They'd be thanking God there's a couch in the league that wants to sit his qb in the pocket and throw 5 yard outs. Guys like Fitzgerald are destined for mediocrity with that system, but it has a way lower floor than spreading the field.
