maybe i worded it wrong texastiger.
you playing it twice, you know its the greatest structured tourney of all time. its a complete drain though. the field is super huge. no doubt about that. but its not a crapshoot vs some of the tourneys you play. the prelim events at the WSOP are a crapshoot. you get 3k in chips and cant even play poker. you play 1 big hand and your pretty much in trouble.

I am not saying its a gimmie to cash in. no doubt about it. its going to be a mine field. i know that. im saying with the structure/starting chips/ amount of complete morons/ and a little luck, you can do alot of damage. a min cash is usually about 21-24k.

patience is the biggest thing in the main event. you have a ton of chips so you dont have to go crazy early. i try to explain to everyone. they asked me if i get KK on the first hand and someone shoves all in. Do I call? the answer is not NO but HELL NO.

guess i should have explained myself better tiger. thought someone like yourself with poker knowledge would understand what I was saying.

i used to play on full tilt a good bit, but nothing major (in terms of money), usually small SnG's, and small cash games. maybe when things slow down at work, i'll pick it up at night again, but it's a ways away.

I was an average Hold'em player and a pretty good omaha player just because i knew the rules. I made a lot of money off that game just because people played it like hold'em.

the variance in that game is unreal. i play sometimes just to waste time. dont even talk about h/l. i get a headache thinking about it.

No offense and i'm not trying to start shite but you don't have a clue what you are talking about yet since you haven't played the tournament.

Yes you get a ton of starting chips and the structure is great. Yes there are a huge amount of retards but most are out by the end of their day 1. You play so many hands of poker that you are destin to run into shite outs and coolers. Poker is a skill game, I understand this better than most however a tournament with 7 thousand people in it is a crapshoot no matter how good you are. of the best players in the world, only a fraction make a deep run every year. Day 1 of the 2007 ME I had 74 thousand in chips going into the dinner break. That was the first year they started us with 20K in chips. I lost 69 thousand of those chips in a hand where I was dealt J10 against JJ on a flop of J,10,10. Things like that don't happen to everyone but over a 3 day span playing 12-15 hours a day it is a miracle if you don't get coolered at least once. If you are from BR you migh know who Clint Schafer is. Good friend of mine and probably the best tournament player I have ever seen but he will be the first to admit the last two cashes in the ME were lucky. He plays in a lot of big buy in tournaments and for whatever reason in the ME has been fortunate enough not to face the suck outs and coolers he has in basically every other big buy in tourney.

I do believe the best players have the best chance in the ME or a tournament structured like the ME but to talk about it like it is a walk in the park is just foolish and ignorant. It is a great experience and enjoy it but respect the field and the tournament or you will be done before you even start.

I love Omaha H/L. You get a normal game of H/L Omaha going and the pots are so much bigger b/c everyone has a draw. I'm pretty good with percentages which is why I like Omaha so much more b/c percentages play such a big roll in it.

What do yall think about this?

I am thinking about for next year getting 20 friends together and make a 500 buy in tourney, winner takes a seat at the main event. Also, whatever he cashes (if any) 20% would be split between the other 19 players that played in the initial tourney. Do yall think this could work?

If your in Baton Rouge, I know of at least 3 of these that happen every year. It's a good idea if you have a group of friends who are interested.

know exactly who he is. talked with him for a while in biloxi. he won an event before i got down there. i FTed 2 of the 3 tourneys i played while down there. Clint is a really good player. plays pretty straight forward. If he is the best tournament player you have ever seen, then obv you havent seen very many. I can name 3 players i know personally off the top of my head better than him. TK miles, jeremey Gaubert, matt graham. and by saying that im not taking anything away from clint. he is a great tourney player and has a great resume of cashes.

prob not. not many players are going to put up $500 for a 1 seat winner. there is no value in that. there are so much greater satelites online with great value. you can do a league where you take a cut each week etc and put aside. then the point leader after so long etc. gets to go.

that structure and those stack sizes are made for me..i would love to play, but that will take a satty win..im not putting up the 10k...i know malone121212 has a good business plan, regarding his buy in for the tourney as well(i htink he has a good chance to do well-the only small doubt in my mind is his lack of true "deep stack" playing experience)...i really like my chances once i play that thing..alot of the pre flop decision making is discounted with the stack sizes, etc..

i feel the most comfortable when im playing in a cash game where the smallest stack is over 100bb's deep, and the avg stack is 300 bb's and bigger..the main event is the closest thing to that as far as tourneys go..(besides the wpt m.e.m obv.)

cool bro. holla later. and by that post i didnt mean anythign against clint schafer. i think he is a great player. i actually talked to him for a while and has a great poker mind. i respect him as much as anyone to the live tourneys i go to. i look up to him and would seek him out for advice if i had a question. i have no shame to admit when someone is better than me. i think he is way better than me LIVE. I think Ill crush him online. (MTT's) his volume of live play is unreal. i have played about 7 live tourneys my whole poker career. that will be a downfall for me in the ME. I have a full time job and cant play every circuit event and travel to circuit events.

these guys don't understand what a "good player" or "bad player" even means...i love when someone bitches about me busting them in a cash game with my 35 soooted vs their JJ...im not folding to you ever when im in position, you suck at poker, and we are over 100bb's deep..ever..llol
