All traffic will have to flow north on 400. Marta only goes to exit 6, which is over 10 miles away.
I mean there's a pretty obvious solution to that but certain people need to clutch their pearls about it while also bitching about how awful Atlanta traffic is

Attendance wasn't the issue. Playing at Phillips was the issue.
They'll get the profits from parking, tenant rent, concessions, etc etc...
When you look at where season ticket holders live, it isn't south georgia or Atlanta. It's the northern burbs, and we don't fricking want to drive into town.
Will the team be good? Who knows. Will they make money? Yes.
The Braves do okay, people want to be at the battery all year long. My office is there, when I go.

Also the Atlanta Spirit Group was the worst group of owners possibly in sports history

I say this as a Buckhead resident : I would rather have no team at all, than have to drive to basically Dawsonville GA to watch NHL hockey. frick that.
Might as well drive 2 extra hours and watch the preds
This is lazy as frick.
The proposed arena is 25 minutes(in good traffic) away from you.
Lest we forget, the Panthers arena is an hour west of downtown Lauderdale. It's literally on the edge of the Everglades. They have no issues filling it.(Winning B2B Cups definitely helps) Would you drive there?

Since 2011 have become a diehard Preds fan
So you'll drive the 4-4.5 hours to Nashville for a Preds game but you won't wanna drive the 20 miles to the arena in Forsyth? Yeah I'm calling bullshite and if its not then you're a lazy frick.
Weird melt.

@lexisdad you do realize that prior to their run of success Florida was subject to constant rumors about the long term viability of that franchise primarily due to the fact that they had some of the worst attendance in the league .
Basing the team in an exurb like Forsyth county is going to alienate 75% of the market.
As I mentioned , I am a hockey guy and I will begrudgingly get season tickets as I am a man of means, but your avg joe from ITP or Brookhaven or VA highlands probably won’t be bothered to make it to games

How much progress has the Alpharetta group made? Where in Forsyth county does Krause want the arena? Is it a better spot than Alpharetta?

Right off of Exit 12(McFarland Rd) and 400.

An argument could be made for either.

Yeah I remember. They were really bad for a long time.
But you are playing into my point about that it doesn't matter where your arena is at, if you win, people will show up, even if the arena is an hour west of the city in a swamp.

If they were wanting the new team downtown, this would be a correct statement. But they aren't.
People said the same thing about the Braves and Truist. But the Braves knew and did their research that if you build your stadium close to your STH base, people will show up. And they were proven right. Krause is following the same model. You and I both know that the potential base of STH will be the northern.burbs, especially Cherokee, Forsyth, North Fulton, East Cobb, West Gwinnett(Suwanee) and SW Hall/far NE Gwinnett(Braselton). So the new arena is right in the middle of that.

Most of those people are probably soccer people or don't like sports altogether. And that's not who the Krause group is focused on, correctly. They are focused on the northern burbs
Speaking for myself, I will go to one or two games a year even though I live on the Southside. I have the advantage of being able to stay with my mom(who lives in the Hall portion of Braselton) afterwards as to avoid the hour and 15 minute drive back. But I'm in the extreme minority.

Or for that matter the Falcons and the Hawks.

I see Houston and Nola getting teams before Atlanta

Seems to me if you can't make it go twice.....what's that definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
How about the state of Florida having a Stanley Cup Finals team six years in a row! The state of Florida rule the ice!
Back in the early '90s, I was in Florida and had to bribe the bartender at a sports bar to put on the Penguins Stanley Cup Final game, and out in the distance I heard this old screechy voice yell out, "HOCKEY! WHO THE HELL'S WATCHING HOCKEY!"
Back then Floridians thought ice was just for drinks.

Atlanta is getting a 3rd team, might as well get used to it.

Atlanta doesn't deserve another mediocre sports franchise
Then hand over back the Hawks to us as they haven't played in an NBA Finals much less won it since leaving.

That wasn’t even the issue so much as their ownership did everything they could to dump the franchise the day they bought it.

They smartly moved it completely out of Atlanta to where the fans live.
Just like the braves they put a decent product out there they will sell a lot of tickets.
