It wasn’t the ADs fault we lost at Nicholls, but it was still a poor scheduling decision to play a road conference game as the season opener.

I understand what you're saying but another way to look at it - why not play conference games at the first of the season? Your team is at its healthiest point injury-wise. We all know that by the last couple of games of the season a lot of good players are absent because of injuries and a long schedule. Whether McNeese plays UCA the first game of the season or the last game doesn't give either team an advantage imo.

This has way too much logic for our fanbase to accept it.

They will just retort with "MICKY MOUSE AD" and "THE SLC HATES US" and talk about all of the possible mistakes you can make that could cost you the game because it's the first game of the season.

You know, like the other team couldn't make the same argument.

Funny thing about first games against good competition--the losing team will always complain that they should not have played the game.

At least it didn't ruin our season like Alabama/Florida State ruined FSU's season with Francois going down. And that wasn't even a conference game.

I'm just wondering if the old "when two teams are basically equal" and only one is chosen argument is used, if the team that hasn't been to a playoff game since the other team has gets the nod? I know that a conference UCA was in D2 used that approach in selecting playoff teams.

Maybe if one team doesn't have the head to head over the other (assuming you are talking about McNeese/Nicholls).

The SLC is so stupid for making this a thing so that they can have a Thursday night game. I remember SLU playing Northwestern to open the season 2 or 3 years ago on Thursday and they played terrible. Just makes no sense especially when it is playoff caliber teams. If Houston Baptist and IWU want to play so be it, but SLU, UCA, Sam, McNeese, and (as of last season) Nicholls should not be playing conference games to open the season.

I know y'all had a D2 win, but 8 DI wins should be enough to get in. What's stupid is if y'all had an FBS loss instead of a D2 win it would have "looked better." McNeese should 100% be in.
