Yo, I was giving bwall a hard time. He knows what's up. I totally agree with you and him...my kid(s) won't be playing football either.

Football will be a niche sport in 20-30 years.

Also kid is not dead, though he is on life support
I had got several reports this morning he had died but they were false. He is a live but in very serious condition.

My thoughts go out to this kid, his team mate and coaches, and everyone's family.
However, I first read the thread title as "Farmville player dead". That's another reason not to accept requests to play...
About pulling kids from football, I disagree with allowing an outlier event be the reason for pulling my kid from a sport. That said, if you ban your kid from football, get him playing rugby.

Yeah me too. Mine will play until he reaches the point he can't play any longer. He plays other sports but football is his love.

So sorry to hear about that...damn.

Thanks for posting. Very sad. From football practice to life support.
Hopeful that he can regain brain activity after the swelling goes down.

Well I won't use the words " good news" in this situation but this gives him some hope

Yep.
Ignorant post. Gotta look at big picture. I am 6'0" with the feet of a tackle and linebacker frame. My wife is 5'3". Genetically my son has no business playing football. He will never excel at it.
Will I go to the point of forbidding it? Probably not. But to push him toward it? Nope. He is 3 and he and I already chip pine cones out of the yard however. He will grow to hate golf.

Damn. Every word of that sounds bad. He is alive which is good. But still bad. Sad story.
Guy I knew in high school tweaked his neck freshman year. "Tweak" was enough to be symptomatic but no structural damage. his Mom pulled his arse out. Was bad all way around. Kid was huge and would have probably been a 3 year letterman. I remember the coaches breaking the news to him that they could not let him workout with us anymore because his Mom said no to them repeatedly. Guy just ended up a pothead.

So sad to hear, but that is fantastic that his family is helping others who need it.
