Even Simon Cowell is in on it now.
After the last act of the night on the finals of America's Got Talent, Simon remarked that the night was like the Super Bowl.
"Just when you think someone's won it, someone comes from behind and steals it." (I may have paraphrased that a bit)

I LOL'D at the Falcons for a long time after this....I laughed at all of the meme's and gifs making fun of them. It was a great time.
That having been said, it is time to move on. It is in the past, it is over, it is done with. New season.

From a Falcons fan's perspective, I agree with this. Part of the beauty of talking shite and mocking other teams and fans is getting them really pissed off. At this point, I along with most Falcons fans I know just don't really care anymore about the mocking, and we even make jokes about it ourselves. It's gotten to a point where I just roll my eyes at the lack of creativity when it comes to referencing that game.

Yup. Every decade that trophy picks up a little more dust though and it seems like it is going to lonely for a LONGGGGGG time. The "we won a super bowl and you haven't" mantra is a good one. A trump card. It starts to lose its luster when the team you are using it against is on the edge of righting of the scales and appears to be staying there for a few years at least, and the team you're defending with it has plummeted off a cliff since then and shows absolutely zero indications of even slightly upticking in the next few years.

It's pathetic. The Super Bowl win 8 years ago does not make this current team any less terrible. This Saints team is dogshit and will remain dogshit. Brees only has a couple years left and the front office is laughable.

My retort would be yes having a super bowl is nice but in pro sports after a few years it doesn't really matter unless you maintain that success. Especially when the teams are so much on the opposite end of the spectrum currently.

Pretty much all this. It doesn't invoke any pain to be honest. If anything it has galvanized the fanbase. There is no possible way we will ever feel as bad as right after that game. Fanbase could have abandoned the team but there has been more support than ever.
It does give me joy to see a Saints fan bring it up though
