A separate question is whether the fourth pick, if it’s indeed a quarterback, will be made by the Falcons (who currently hold the selection) or someone else.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Falcons coach Arthur Smith believes that incumbent quarterback Matt Ryan has at least two years left in the tank, but that G.M. Terry Fontenot wants to take a quarterback.

Mortensen adds that the Falcons are likely targeting North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance. (This assumed that Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, and Mac Jones will be gone before the Falcons are on the clock.)

It could be a ruse aimed at getting any team that wants Lance to realize that it may need to move all the way to No. 4 to get him, with the Bengals at No. 5 or the Dolphins at No. 6 not an options. If it’s not a smokescreen in this season of dry ice, it will be interesting to see whether Smith or Fontenot prevail in the potential tug of war.

QB, skill position, or trade down. What would you do with that pick?

I'd go QB. I'd let it be known i'm going QB.

The only way i'm enticed out of drafting said QB is someone gives up a ridiculous offer to move down that helps stack my team for the future still.

I would imagine Matt Ryan is pretty tradable a year from now to a qb needy team.

Trade it to the Saints for a turkey sandwich.

I'd take Trey Lance and let him sit for a year, but my gut feeling is they'll go with Pitts under the mistaken belief that Matt Ryan can still carry the team.

I’d draft Jamarr Chase, then trade Julio for a good pass rusher or 1st round pick

Have 4 straight QBs ever been taken with the first 4 picks of an NFL Draft?

Julio is 32 coming off of a lower body injury. He is also on a godawful contract and became lazy as frick once he got that contract. I don't think the trade return is going to be as high as you think it would be.

You could 100% get a 1st rounder out of a team that is contending and needs a receiver for Julio.

No shot, Deandre Hopkins didnt net a 1st rounder and he was younger and more productive

You are using one of the worst trades of all time as an example?

The Jets went this route and reportedly have had next to zero teams call them about trading to #2 because they don’t believe it’s realistic

No team is going to buy a bluff of “yeah we REALLY want this QB, but you can pay us a ton and we’ll just not take the guy we REALLY like”

Also the charade is just unnecessary. There’s 3-4 teams who would already kill for that 4 pick. Bluffing about how much you want a QB isn’t going to drive up the price any higher than multiple buyers bidding on the pick will

The restructure they just did made him much less tradable. Still a big dead cap hit for them to move on next season

In the 8 seasons they've been in the league together, only twice has he outperformed julio in a season. Julio played 5 and 9 games those years. Deandre would have to get 2887 yards in the next 9 games to equal julio's current output. More productive

That had nothing to do with his actual trade value, the Texans are the only team in history that could frick up a trade that badly

If anything, take Sewell. You have to build from the trenches to give your playmakers time to make plays. But truthfully I hope the Bengals get him for Joe Burrow's future sake.

Matt Ryan is what? 36? He can play 2-4 more years. What’s the rush?
