And no, I DO NOT want Gayle Benson to buy it. She has run 2 teams in the ground, screwed up a crappy tasting beer by going woke. I wouldn't let her run a lemonade stand.

Putting this on a t-shirt. 1 billboard minimum.

Yep, she’s not the answer

Hey Double Oh, my sauce at FG did say Bernhard may be interested IF CD does put a for sale sign on Gentilly Blvd. I don't think it'll be that easy since the Jazz Feat is cash cow for them.

I hope you’re right.

Warning Signs
• Stagnant or declining total handle: After peaking in 2021, the all-sources handle has declined each year—dropping to ~$11.3 billion in 2024. That’s flat over a decade, even as inflation and population have grown.
• Field size shrinkage: Average field size has dropped below 7.5 horses per race nationally. This reduces betting interest, payouts, and churn.
• High takeout rates: The cost of betting remains high, especially on exotic wagers. That drives serious players toward sports betting or other lower-cost markets.
• Loss of relevance: Outside of the Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup, racing has almost no cultural presence. Even the Derby doesn’t retain new fans long-term.
• Horse shortage and track closures: Fewer foals, fewer stables, and multiple track closures (e.g. Golden Gate, Turf Paradise) reflect contraction. Possibly Fair Grounds, Santa Anita, Gulfstream etc..

Solution? I'll give you the answers
#1 Run 3 days a week. Thursday-Saturday. Open up Thanksgiving day and run all weekend.
#2 Racing, no matter where is not going to outdraw the NFL on Sundays. Sit it out. (See above)
#3 its always been empty on Sundays during a Saints game (again look to #1)
#4 Less dates equal better purses , especially MSW
#5 State bred / open company maiden claimers should be 10-12k. Any lower, go to Delta.
#6. All P3 should be a $1 minimum with a lesser takeout than for 50 cents. That attracts more money in the pools.
#7 lessen the takeout on P4,P5 P6. Come up with some 20 cent P6 jack pot like Gulfstream does, and pump $$ into it every time there is a carry over. Call it a "Hurricane or Gumbo " pick 6. Anything but Rainbow. Make a call to Pat O Briens or a restaurant that everyone knows has good Gumbo. "Race 5 starts the 20 cent Hurricane P6." Marketing! That goes a long way
#8. Concessions need to return to local and be lowered. Those crackheads downstairs ain't paying $10 for a draft. Who can blame them?
All.in all, FG needs to return to its local roots. Cater to the locals. New Orleans has plenty of racing fans. Churchill simply pushed them away

Looks like Churchill and LA horsemen came to an agreement earlier today, per WDSU.

What do you expect from a stupid libtard city? Shame we can't sell them to Commiefornia.

So they are going to make the purses smaller. I fail to see how that will benefit the horse owners or trainers, but whatever. CDI can't live with the loss, but they have no problem putting it on the horse owners?

Should've told CDI to pound sand.

Apparently. The issue i have is FG runs too many days. Cut back to 3 days per week, and the purse distribution money increases. Send all those 5k state bred rats to delta. Bottom level state/open company should be minimal 10k. Way too many cheap races there.

Can't. ICE just rounded up all the backside workers!!

thats my point. I don't see how this is beneficial (let alone fair) to the horse owners. I guess CDI figures there is a limited number of venues for owners to utilize, so frick 'em. Make them take the hair cut. Seems like they are eating their own, though. Who the hell wants to run if you can't make some money doing it? This is another reason I think the sport isn't viable long term.

For the record, Delta is running a QH meet not thoroughbreds. Besides, ICE is after illegals closely located in the south, ie, Louisiana and Texas. They already rounded up a bunch earlier this year at Sunland and Riudoso. Cartel related
