I know you can't really play this game, but without Nadal, Fed probably has five RG titles and is right near Borg as clay GOAT. In any event, 1 win plus 4 finals is still pretty fricking good.

He is unreal..... Took it too Murray today and it seemed most thought that Murray was the favorite today, can't stop the master in his dojo!
Rafa is better head to head that's obvious, but the style he plays along with his bad knees will cut his career short although there's time for him to turn it around. Nadal really looks a few steps slower than in his prime compared to Feds masterful performance today looking like 2006 vintage federer it was awesome to watch.

I also hate these threads because it makes me "bash" Nadal. I still freaking love Rafa

Fed's performance today reminded me of Sampras. Sampras would hold, and be ho hum on returns until 4-4, then he would break and serve out a set. I know it didn't happen all the time, but as a teenager, it felt like that was how every single match went. He would sleepwalk through the set, get his break at the end, and take it.

Bobby, you keep saying things like this to advance only your inflated opinion of yourself first, and Nadal second.
Why? Because you don't have a objective rebuttal.
Let's talk later on since you mentioned Rafa occupying Fed's head...
There is no question when Nadal was at his peak and Fed was beginning his decline that Fed wanted to win soooo bad that I do think the moment, not necessarily Rafa by himself, got to him.
The idea you might be losing majors and your place as #1 player in the world AND becoming aware of those factors just might enter into anybody's head.
I can argue it might happen against Djoke tomorrow. The moment against #1 knowing his window is small just might make Fed press thus choke.
Guess who else it happened to.....Borg and McEnroe. One left the sport for good, the other had to leave the game for a few months. Neither could handle losing their mantle. Fed is still battling, surprising to me.

Bad analogy
Fed was dominate with his service game. Murray needed 10, sometimes 15 minutes to win a service game. Fed would blow through it in 90 seconds
He did what he was supposed to do on his end and got all the breaks he needed. Pretty dominant if you ask me

Lol I guess I was right about what I said about you in the sig quote. This is the dumbest comparison of athletes I have ever heard of. You're really comparing an always injured, 42 game winner in the MLB to a 17 fricking time Grand Slam tennis player who is probably the best athlete in his sport? Seriously?

Are we holding Nadal's hard court weakness against him? He only has 1 Aus Open win compared to 4 for Fed and 2 US Opens compared to 5 for Fed. That a 9-3 total for Federer. It works both ways. And that's without mentioning his 2 Wimbeldon titles to Fed's 7.

I disagree. All the times Federer has lost grand slam finals, it was never because he didn't bring his A game. It has always been that his opponent played out of his mind. Being outplayed and choking are two different things. Some of the best-played matches I've ever seen (by both players) were GS finals lost by Federer.

Federer Rafa is like debating Magic and Bird.
Jordan is coming.

Kyrgios has a long way to go to get it right between the ears. He hits some great shots, I'll grant you, but right now he is just another Monfis - I and I enjoy watching both of them - but I just keep thinking "how can they not win more?'

PB, I didn't mean to imply/say Fed only lost because he choked. It's hard to say what I mean while trying to work and type this shite fast.
I agree Nadal and others have brought their A-games and Fed played well too.
However, the big moments, like break points, Fed imo always seemed to be too careful most of the time allowing Nadal to control the point in those situations.
Look at Fed's break point % vs. Nadal in those losses. I looked it up a while back and it is dreadful.

Who is Bobby? The system here clearly identifies me as "SystemsGo"
Also, the above doesn't even make sense. If I was advancing my inflated view of myself would I not say something about how awesome i was? Or perhaps post a picture of myself wearing this:

He's got a way bigger sack of balls* than Gael Monfils.
*this is a metaphor

This is exactly what Sampras would do. My how I hated that guy. He was great, though.
