I was worried that Ferrari had lost their pace this year after Melbourne. Not that I necessarily want Ferrari to win but I want somebody to threaten the Mercs.

Just turned on FP1, did the Ferrari do any long runs today? If cooling is their problem then FP3 and the race is where I would expect to see that come in go play.

Getting ready to turn it on myself so I don't know the answer to that yet.

The cars look frickin' fantastic under the lights:
Bahrain FP2 Highlights

Here's a great place to see all the session results at a glance. This site is much better than the official F1 site to skim through the information:

Motorsports is one of my stops every day. Follow their youtube as well.

Recommended it last week, bit the F1 youtube channel does a really good job now. Paddock Pass (pre and post) should be something that you watch. Buxton is really good at what he does, despite his twatish ways at times.

After practice the Ferrari people were quick to say not to believe their pace from FP2. They claimed that it was because their engines were turned up more than Mercedes.

Otherwise Vettel gave away about 2 tenths in the final corner and is probably something like +.8 ahead of Hamilton.

I believe Mercedes has a lot more in store. Only being a tenth ahead of Hulk is a give away.

Qualy

1 Hamilton
2 Vettel
3 Bottas

19 Russell
20 Kubica

Race

1 Hamilton (fastest lap)
2 Bottas
3 Vettel

You taking Russell over Kubica in Formula Williams in the race too?

Both McLarens make it through to Q3, very nice.

During practice Kubica said they ran the same setup and his car was significantly slower than his teammate's. He thinks there is something wrong with his car.

Fantastic Q results. We may actually have a four-way battle for wins and the championship. I hope Verstappen can be in the mix too for wins and even the championship, although that's a lot less likely.

Too hard to predict whose car will break first.

I feel genuinely bad for Russell. He's fast and isn't going to score any points this year and maybe not until he leaves Williams.

Is Grosjean gonna take a penalty for blocking Lando in Q1? Thankfully it was early so Norris got another bite at the apple, but that could have been a disaster

Fantastic Q results

Hopefully a sign of things to come. Red Bull didn't look quite right this weekend though. Verstappen only .005 faster than Magnussen is either a bad sign for Red Bull or a great sign for Haas.

BTW Haas not telling their drivers about traffic is crazy. They're going to throw away more points this weekend over something really simple.

I think last year they were giving 3 grid spots for doing that.

Gasly doesn’t look long for Red Bull right now...

I think Verstappen said the Honda lacks top-end, which makes more of a difference here than Melbourne. Ferrari is strong here, so it makes sense that Haas is strong too. But it doesn't matter, Haas will find some way to screw up the race.

How the hell does grosjean continue to screw the pooch as a driver. Proof that experience doesn't always improve your skill

Also loving the shots of Alonso keeping an eye on his seat. Sainz getting nervous.

Mclaren looks awesome! So excited if they find a way to fight.

Radio transmission of the weekend:
HAM: Who’s that behind me?

Pete: That would be Kvyat.

HAM: I nearly got torpedoed!
