Haven't seen the overhead. Will be interesting if he turned left into him a second time.
From car movement it looks like he did. LEC was alongside so Max needed to give room. Not sure if that means penalty or not though.

This is going to be hilarious if they overturn. On the other hand if they let drivers get away with it this time look out for a lot more contact this season

Spice Girl on TV politicking for the win giving all the buzzwords.
Including 'he didn't give him any room'
That line might come back to bite him.

All those mofos in orange are going to be pissed if they overturn this.

Stewards are waiting for the helicopter before they submit the ruling.

These guys are a bunch of pussies. Leclerc lost the corner. Leclerc and Ferrari shouldn't want to win the race on a penalty. I'm glad Vettel wasn't having any of that.

Just catching up. What a great race!! Max with the pass for the win like a boss!

I share this opinion. Max showed them how it is done today.

I hope the stewards don't ruin the best race of the year.

Have you ever watched a sporting event and the coverage ended and you didn't know who won??

If the stewards are consistent they give him a penalty.
They hit Vettel with the rulebook.
The reviews are killing the fun of the sport just like in the NFL.

I get that that is Ferrari's position. But Vettel himself said settle it on the track. I'm glad that Vettel is being consistent in his view. I don't remember how hard Ferrari protested the penalty in Canada, but if they were bitter about the penalty they should be consistent with their sentiments. If they eventually conceded that Vettel deserved the penalty, then they have a case here.

The craziest drawn-out contesting of a race finish that I know of is this:
Indy 500's most controversial finish: It ruined Mario Andretti, Bobby Unser friendship forever

Yup. It is bad for the sport if they overturn it. That being said Verstappen is such a hot head I wouldn’t be surprised if the other drivers start doing that to him when he tries to pass.

Holy crap, almost an hour and a half after the end of the race, Verstappen and Leclerc were called to meet with the stewards. If the stewards didn't have a clear answer within 10 minutes of the end of the race, they should have called the drivers then.
This is ridiculous.

I don't think it even boils down to who's position.
So many vague situations about it.
Did VER use contact to force him off?
Did VER purposely drift into him?
While VER is entitled to the corner, he can't do either of those other two. And that doesn't even touch on if he was required to provide space since LEC wasn't off track.

They aren't going to hold up media and the podium for what may end up being nothing.

Was a great race start to finish.
Stoaked for the McLaren team. Sainz was a machine today, and the kid going toe to toe with Hamilton at the start was super fun. McLaren with a firm grip on P4 in the constructors series and 7/8 in the points for drivers. Solid as the "best of the rest" so far. Norris has been a blast to watch, especially his performance last week with the hydraulics problems.
Max was a monster the second half of the race after the tire change. Im interested to see what happens after the race with the stewards. Im honestly not going to be surprised if they do penalty Max for the move.

As a race fan I loved it. Stewards are in a bit of a bind, imo, seen a few penalties for less than that. Max made a pass just like that earlier in the race too, think it was on Norris and he was pissed too.

Yes it does. The stewards aren't going to consider overturning a result unless a team is protesting the finish. I was pointing out that Vettel was consistent in his view between Canada and Austria. Ferrari's view should stay consistent with how they felt about the incident in Canada. In both cases there was no egregious driving, just a suspicion that a driver was not doing as much as they could to leave room for the other driver. You shouldn't penalize drivers on a suspicion. They should be able to make honest driving mistakes without penalty.
IMO the Rosberg incident was a little different. Rosberg pushed him out at the entrance to the turn (claiming he understeered at full lock). I don't think Rosberg should have been penalized for that, but I see a greater case there. The current incident is very easy to interpret. Verstappen was accelerating as hard as he could to make the pass stick, so the car drifted out. No driver in that position would ever get off the gas to make sure the car doesn't drift out too wide in order to leave a lane open. That's extremely typical racing and shouldn't require two hours of analysis and debate.
