Etienne Decision - Good or Bad

If he is planning on making the majority of his life earnings by playing football, bad.

I don’t think that’s accurate at all

You must not spend a lot of time on the Tiger Rant

I’m not saying those two groups don’t exist. I just don’t think they are intersected very much.

Any time these kids get the chance to go to the NFL and actually get paid, it's a bad decision to come back. Now, if his family is fine with waiting another year, then by all means you do what you want.

not necessarily. If he has a terrible injury next year, its going to come before his draft day, as opposed to after. meaning...he could only get paid one years worth of what Clemson pays, instead of some sort of contract and commitment from whomever drafts him.

I'm not sure his credits would still all be good if he waited until he retired. And with the NFL season, for playoff teams, dragging into January, mini-camps in the spring, fall camp starting before the summer session ends, and the season all fall, it also makes it very difficult to manage an NFL career and be able to take classes to graduate. That's probably why the vast majority of players who declare early never end up finishing their degree. I'm not saying it's impossible to do so, but I will always respect a players decision to come back to earn a college degree.

Outside of showing up 30 years later, I'd be blown away to find out their credits don't count.

Mistake. But he’s overhyped anyway.

Tears it up against the weak in the ACC. But when he faces equal talent and competition, he gets bodied.

The RB group this year for the draft is much weaker than next years. Look at all the top rushers who decided to return to school. That combined with how few RBs get taken in the top 50 picks could very well cost him a ton of $.

Dumb decision. He averaged 8 ypc and had 19 td’s. He would have crushed the combine. Staying a year doesn’t do anything but put more unnecessary wear and tear

Bad decision, take the money and finish school in your off time or when you are done playing.

Absolutely this. Tons of guys that are just shy of graduating skip their senior year and graduate shortly after going into the league. Cam did it and got his degree within like 2 or 3 years after leaving Auburn.

Graduation isn't going anywhere. His youth, health, and potentially draft status are.

I've always been in favor or draft ready badgers going for their own good. Sam Dekker likely is not a first rounder if he comes back for his senior season, and Johnathan Taylor is likely not improving his stock if he comes back.

All anybody cares about is the money. Nobody can even consider that the guy is having the time of his life and loves being in college. No, he shoud chuck it all out the window and run to the NFL. He'll probably be a 2nd round pick, get a 3 year contact with only a few million guaranteed, play in a city he don't want to go to, will be run into the ground on a team that might be .500.

But he'll be rich, right? All his friends and family will be begging him for money. Tons of women will be trying to get his seed for an easy check. The money will be spent as fast as it comes. He just has to get to that 2nd contract and really cash in. Nevermind that RB is an incredibly devalued position and the chances of that mega contract are slim. He has to go now.

Its all BS. He should stay if he wants. Enjoy this time and bask in the glory. You can't control injuries or hedge against them. Plus money isn't everything and playing in the NFL isn't everybody's dream. So, I vote good..

Being a pro athlete is pretty fun in itself

Oh the horror. Only a few million. Whew you make a valid point there. He should work at Enterprise rent a car for a real stable career in that case

That’s sounds like a better problem than not having money

Chances are even slimmer if you never get the chance to get to that second contract due to injury

The devaluation is exactly why he should come out

It’s a decision with virtually zero upside and a ton of downside.

If you look at it monetarily, of course. Maybe he values one more year of being a college kid and a campus legend more than he does the money?

The fact that it’s not the decision you or I would have made doesn’t make it an objectively bad decision.
