But, seriously where did you see the SECN was 4x the BTN? That would be an interesting read.

Sporting News article about it. It makes sense based off of subscriber fees and the popularity of college football in the south

I thought they were losing money on SECnet as well. The big issue is Monday night football. I don’t see how someone pays more than ESPN is paying now for MNF. The NFL and ESPN need each other big time for MNF.

The NFL will find plenty of suitors between GOOG/YouTube, APPL, Amazon, Twitter and two distribution channels (pardon the pun) and I'd also imagine that the broadcast nets would love another shot at MNF. So they'll get their $ IMO.

ESPN will free up over $1 billion dollars and then-in concert with renegotiating their NBA Contract-will free up another $500 million IMO. That's a huge pressure relief valve for them and would help fluctuate their losses.

But as a network they're just like any oilfield company when you stop and think about it. They're cutting manpower first...and then they'll restructure their business spending next. Just like any other normal company.

As long as we all get our much coveted MNF in Spanish, we're good.

Getting rid of the LA Sportscenter would save them a nice chunk of money.
