I mean given the lack of live sports to watch last quarter, that seems like pretty promising data for Disney if anything.

Hope it continues to freefall

They peaked in 2014. I remember reading articles about the launch of fox sports and how they could never supplant ESPN but ESPN has only slid since then.
They launched the SEC network that fall too but it’s still only been downhill. If they take Herbstreit and Fowler permanent off college and stick them in pro ball I may never watch ESPN again

Is this the thread where we blame it on being woke while ignoring Disney+ subs, an equally if not more woke platform, are up to 100+ million?
Perhaps ESPN subs are down because there has been a cord cutting trend in the works for nearly a decade?
ETA - I'm not arguing against the fact ESPN's quality has dropped nor am I arguing against the fact they're quite liberal. I simply think blaming the sub losses on that is ignoring a much larger and more impactful trend.

ESPN subs are down because they're woke...
Discovery Channel's subs are down even more because?

I wonder if an argument could be made that subscription to Disney+ also comes with literally a centuries worth of content. And much less content containing human analysis.

And Hamilton and Black is King.
I also posted Discovery Channel's subs for comparison. ESPN has actually held up better despite their wokeness.

Could also just be the consequence of cable cutting. Lots of people in their 20s and early 30s stream sports and/or borrow cable subscription usernames and passwords just to have access to the ESPN. Disney+, peacock, etc. are ways that people are combatting the trend.

People who watch Disney + want to be woke
The sports demographic does not want woke shoved in their face

Ironically, there are a lot of subs who love what ESPN is doing these days. If you nahmean

They’ve gone Woke too
Look at who discovery owns: Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, Oprah Winfrey Network
They’ve gone VERY woke

False.
And Disney+ subscriptions are up because it’s the cheapest streaming service out there and a lot of people with kids needed a cheap way to entertain them for hours each day over the last few months since your idiotic politicians decided a weak bat flu was worth cancelling school over.
And the Discovery Channel comparison is asinine. Crappy shark fishing reality shows have nowhere near the broad appeal as sports in this nation. Sports are suppose to be the great uniter, where we leave our differences and the ills of the world behind and cheer for our teams. But no, some Kansas City ****s decided they wanted to be a Communist Network and now the only damn thing worth a shite on any ESPN Network the last 6 months has been Korean Baseball.

, is this supposed to be a real rebuttal?

Bro
The woke crowd loves that shite on Disney+
Hamilton, Beyoncé, Star Wars, Super Hero movies
Movie theaters when those movies come out filled with these types

Only if you ignore the fact that Disney's entire animated library is on that streaming service. Does it have woke programming? Sure. But it also has The Little Mermaid and a bunch of other kid-friendly shite to occupy the children while mommy and daddy go upstairs to the bedroom.

I don’t see that in theaters here, but before the lockdown, I really only saw retirees and teens at my local theater so
