I think everyone can agree that power rankings are very important when discussing which teams are trending up and which have plateaued or are trending downward.

Also the board seems pretty dead this morning.

Talk about storming out of the gates: The Pelicans averaged 140 points in their first two games, a pair of blowout wins over the Rockets and Kings. New Orleans' three-man rotation at center and power forward is off to a spectacular start. Anthony Davis has played like an MVP, averaging 28.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 2.5 blocks and 2.5 steals. Julius Randle (19 PPG, 11 RPG) looks like a Sixth Man of the Year (or at least of the week) candidate. And Nikola Mirotic is averaging 33 PPG. -- MacMahon

Two things:

1)Of course the Pels should be ranked this high. They handed last year's WCF runner up their worst loss in over a year.

2) Its been two fricking games. Not much to judge off of, even though the Pels played well.

This is a bit aggressive. I like seeing the Pels at 3, but GSW, BOS, TOR are all deserve the benefit of the doubt over NOP at this point IMO. DEN at 2 is not right until they prove more, just like the Pels.

The guy says in the article not to get mad if he drops your 1-2 team a ton because what's the point of these ranking if you don't overreact to what you've seen.

And I agree.

Weird first week. Houston and OKC are a combined 1-5.

OKC probably will start 0-4 with Boston coming to town Thursday. Defense continues to look absolutely lost without Roberson.

Bunchy i'm glad you aren't like these other low IQ posters here that arent over reacting. Rox will be 1 or 2 seed at WORST when Melo gets that magical knee from Chris's State Farm Insurance.

Pels look good, but boy do we have our sights set on different things. The Rockets are focused on winning a championship by getting through the Warriors. The Pelicans just want to be ranked ahead of Houston in the Power Rankings.

I think Melo’s first week should probably be at least a little bit concerning.
