I'm actually pretty shocked Daney Kanell and Brett McMurphy got let go.

Inside look at ESPN headquarters currently...

Get out of here with that logic talk.
Seriously. If Schlumberger fired 100 people, about 85-90% would be white males and no one would bat an eye.

That lady isn't black, can't be espn headquarters

Are you of the belief that ESPN's employee demographics match the demographics of the US? Newsflash, they don't.
Yeah, I'm wanting you to roll out ESPNs demographics. You've gone from claiming 80% to 90% white males, is just a couple of pages on here

I still can't believe Jalen Rose is still employed. He can't complete a sentence or keep still while talking

yeah not terribly sad that Dilfer got the axe

The fact that Russillo is being diminished is the biggest news for me. He is the exact type of personality that ESPN should be hitching their wagons to. He's middle of the road on nearly everything and facts based.
But no, we get hip hop sportscenter instead.

That being said, I doubt ESPN is 80 percent white males, at least when it comes to journalists and TV personalities. Probably around that behind the scenes.
Their columnists, reporters, and sports editors fall in line with those numbers.
The overall staff is lower though.

No, it actually isn't. I am willing to acknowledge their bottom-line is affected significantly by an outsized staff. Topline however is adversely affected by the precipitous drop in subscriptions. Hell you just said that--it's a dying industry.
People have made snarky jokes about Oil and Gas baws and that is a great example. More cyclical than structural like ESPN, but the reason it happened was because of topline first and foremost.
Poor content is a driving force in that.

No longer at ESPN. Thank you to everyone who read and supported me throughout my 9 years there. Means more than you can know.

If I was ESPN, I wouldn't be firing 12 regional reporters making 70K a year. I would fire people making more than a million a year who aren't worth that amount.
I would be firing former coaches and athletes almost exclusively.
Baloo summed this up earlier
