I know these guys need to be cordial on their way out,
Yeah, I don't get this. Its not like ESPN will ever recover enough to hire these guys back anytime soon. And if they are such a great place to work, how come they needed to drop over 100 people in one day
Kanell seems like the only guy pissed at them so far

Poured my heart and soul into ESPN for last 8 years. Moved my wife and 3 kids to CT to go "all in" 5 years ago. Bummed it ended in 3 minutes

If you look at who they are laying off, it's journalists. Now personalities, not screaming heads, but people who do the actual hard work of reporting. That's because actual news gathering is both difficult nd expensive, and ESPN doesn't care about doing good journalism anymore. Their big news show became a marketing device for ESPN properties and advertisers a long time ago.
Welcome to the world of media in 2017, where it is more important to be loud and entertaining than to be correct.

I think a lot of people just hated on Danny because of his SEC bashing thing.
I've come to appreciate a good trolling

They're not needed, at least not at bloated salaries. If you have twitter you already get whatever big story is breaking and you get it often times hours before ESPN does.
They'll still have journalists but like others have said they'll be much younger and they'll make a fraction of what guys like Werder make.

She is the least talented person on their broadcast. But finding a black female sports reporter that can speak English is apparently the rarest of finds in journalism.

What if I told you that a network with an established brand in sports journalism threw away their dominant position to appeal to people who don't care about sports?

I did as well. Loved when all of those Finebaum listening SEC tards were pissed over meaningless conference talk
Posted on 4/26/17 at 12:51 pm to RobbBobb
Yeah Kanell deservingly went in on them

give Rusillo time... he could be a ticking timebomb just waiting to explode on ESPN
Posted on 4/26/17 at 12:52 pm to Fus0623
Russillo probably won't be on the radio much longer. I mean if his role is being "greatly reduced" and Kanell is out, what's that supposed to mean other than the show is basically over?

I feel like almost everyone they're firing is a white male

Damn Dilfer is gone. I liked him.

Before today, I didn't realize ESPN still employed this many white males. There's practically no one left now.

Russilo having his role significantly reduced? Hope they don't cut the radio show. Daily listen for me.

It's clearly intentional

I think I've seen one white female name. Dana O'niel.

this is from a (generally) small college baseball-exclusive twitter

ESPN pays Screamin A Smith $3.5M to yell on a struggling morning talk show but let's go of Jayson Stark, their best baseball writer on staff

quote:Yep. I said it months ago. ESPN has completely gone with the McDonald's principle. Cater 100% to the African american market. It may make sense. I havent looked at the numbers, but it could be that white people have figured out how to work the cord-cutting system, and black people are still tuned into basic cable.
