tired of this chicken shite attitude. "wahhh they can't do it because they're the bengals, blah blah blah"

Joe is the real deal, he's coming into that franchise and changing everything.

Pretty much this. Any franchise is one Elite quarterback away from putting it all together.

The Bengals don't have a full indoor training facility. In Cincinatti.

Their owner once gave his family members Rolexs as gifts...that were fake.

They have (at least in the recent past this was true) the smallest scouting department in the entire NFL.

Multiple former associates have said the owner absolutely thinks he can make similar amounts of money losing than the investment he would need to win, so losing is easier.

People don't realize how cheap Brown is and behind the 8 ball they are.

Situation matters almost as much to a QB as talent.

Please tell me about all the titles the Colts and Pats won before Manning and Brady took over.

I use them as examples because I believe Burrow could be just as elite as them.

its not as simple as just add elite QB, championship.

The Colts old, cheap owner Bob Irsay passed away in 1997, his son hired Bill Polian the GM that built the Bills and had a 2nd year expansion team, Carolina, 1 win from the SB in year 2 and they built a better organization. Give them an elite QB and they would definitely be contenders like they were with Luck.

NE also has Belichick who is widely regarded as the best coach ever. Owner Robert Kraft has run a first class organization since he bought the team.

The Bengals have been cheap since Mike Brown took over in 1991 after his father Paul died. Now in fairness they did have some good teams in the mid 2010's. Maybe a better QB gets them over the top or at least out of the WC round.

But it will take more than just a QB

Fish rots from the head. It doesn't matter how good a player is if his leadership is shite.

And I think the Bengals will be a winning team under Burrow. But are they going to turn into some world-class organization because of a player? We've seen nothing to suggest that. It takes an organization to be great.

Schlereth recalls them being on Hard Knocks some time back and Mike Brown was talking to the training staff about an injury to a TE in training camp. Mike Brown suggested that they just move one of their DEs to TE and leave it at that.

But Burrow's going to come in and change that type of thinking.

I understand the points you're making. You can't rely on one single person to win championships.

However, the direction a franchise goes in has some clarity once the cornerstone guy is in place. Not that I care about the Bengals, but Joe Burrow seems like the type of guy to be a catalyst towards a franchise's rejuvenation.

this is where we disagree. The direction of the franchise is set from the top. The organization has to be good to win at a high level. Not the same sport i realize and there are other issues in the NBA but look at the Pelicans with Davis. They did nothing because they were a terrible organization. They were using the Saints management Now, Mrs Benson has changed that and brought in a basketball guy, we will see how they do with Zion, but i wouldn't be surprised if they do better. I hope you are right about the Bengals, maybe they can do better than they did in the 2010's with Dalton and Lewis with Burrow, we will see.

Pels/Davis is a good comparison.

I'll add the organization could change at any time, so even if they aren't good right now, they could get better in the future.

based on all that being true, should he not then be open to trading the 1st pick?

that move saves him a buttload of money and at the same time gets lots of other picks to get a decent average team on a discount payroll

Mike Brown sucks
Duke Tobin sucks

Hopefully Mike Browns kids are better owners than he is but I don’t think they will be.

A lot of people have speculated on that.

However, having a home grown hero at QB for 4-5 years probably makes him a bunch of money just based on that, as well as the "hope" that comes with a Franchise QB.

He doesn't have to actually do anything to help them improve in that time.
