Care to name some actual reasons? I would be curious to know who all you have in front of Emmitt, and why.
Not a lot of runningbacks could do this for as long as Emmitt did it, and through the pain in which he did it. He was not the fastest, he was not the strongest, but he had longevity, balance, and power. He was one of the most complete backs to ever play the game.

Dale Hansen the local sportscaster in Dallas says he's a major a-hole in private. Smith is one of the most despised Cowboys ever by the local media.
Emmitt Smith is probably the worst sports "analyst" I have ever seen. He is a borderline idiot and also has great difficulty speaking coherent English.

I never understood the hate for Emmitt Smith as an analyst. I would tune in to him just for comedy purposes. I was devastated when ESPN cut him. How can you not enjoy this?

Emmitt is a complete jackass and terrible analyst.

I love the hate in this thread. Emmitt was as slippery as Barry Sanders with the abilities of a power back. He was just the most inbetween and complete running back there has ever been.
5 strait 1,400 yard seasons
11 strait 1,000 yard seasons
He leads all running backs with 164 career rushing touchdowns, and his 175 total touchdowns ranks him second only to Jerry Rice's 208 touchdowns.

Looks like there are some anti-Dallas Cowboys' fans on here that had their feelings hurt when Emmitt Smith ran the ball down their throats back in the day. Get over it Emmitt Smith was GREAT...a great Rb, great receiver, and great blocker! He stayed in the game on every play and you cannot say that about Barry Sanders, who came out of the game on 3rd downs and in the red zone!
As far as the "great" Dallas oline back in the 90s goes, how many of them are in the Hall of fame? ZERO! That means they were good not great and Larry Allen came in after Emmitt already had 3 rushing titles in 1994!

Then you've lived under a rock for years my good man. He is known far and wide as a douche. Even requires fans to pay him for autographs or outright refuses them.
You have just named MOST professional athletes!

Not football players. Most NFL players are really nice.

You know what they say about opinions! I could care less what he does as a TV guy! He was a GREAT RB and easily is one of the top 5 of all-time!
I would take him over Barry Sanders any day. If you like highlights and take Sanders, but when it COUNTED Emmitt Smith produced! You cannot say that about Barry Sanders.

Sanders got stuck on awful Lions teams. This isn't even fair.

bullshite. If you really want to look at it. Sanders had NOTHING compared to Smith as far as talent around him.

You obviously never saw Sanders play.
