The question is no HOF or HOF. Brees is a HOFer, so is Manning.

Correct. And to be fair Archie should be in as well. Not for his stats but for the beating he took all those years. And if he is not an ambasssdor for the game I don’t know who is.

No but first ballot in the hall of entertaining but unfortunately in a bad franchise.

He won two SBs, including one particularly memorable one, but his overall body of work is subpar considering some of the other candidates out there.

He was a really good QB on most days, but too often would make a dumb play or critical mistake at crucial times.

He also had a lot more bad games than his contemporaries. Eli had more games with a passer rating below 70, than he had above 100.

For comparison, Tony Romo played a fraction of games compared to Eli, but he has more games with a 100+ rating. Romo was famous for bad games, but only about 15% of his games did he fall below a 70 rating. Nearly 30% of Eli’s games were below that mark.

Eli’s an oddity, and there aren’t a lot of comparisons. He was bad more often than really good, even when he played well he had a tendency to derail his team’s chances.

However, he was always a threat. You never knew if you would see Good Eli or Bad Eli. Often both would show up during a game. He could be having a bad game, but make a few keys plays down the stretch that very few QBs were capable of making.

He not only won 2 SBs, but had some of his greatest games in those playoff runs.

Was he great? No
Did he have a really good career? Yes

As long as he’s in the ‘Really Good’ category, then all that matters is the 2 SBs to the committee. They don’t care about all the bad games or mistakes, or the fact he lost as many games as he won, or he only made the playoffs six times.

A 2x SB MVP who played his entire career in the biggest media market is a lock. This should surprise no one.

Did you really watch Deion play? He was an elite cover corner. Teams threw away from him a lot.

15+ year starter with one iconic team. 2X Super Bowl MVP. What’s the problem?

The giants had 2 seasons over .500 with manning after their second Super Bowl

He never led the NFL in any passing stat in any season, besides interceptions 3 times

He’ll get it but he’s a squarely average QB in his era

Like I said, his entire Resume is two Super Bowls fueled by the defense.

He had awful years and when they weren't awful they were average but for some shining moments.

He would make Namath's election look like Joe Montana.

First question in a HOF debate is where you ranked in your era.

I have a hot take, John Elway is borderline too. He led the league in passing stats 4 times. Once in yards, twice in attempts, once in completions. He was top 5 in MVP voting 4 times and his one win was the strike season.

Them 2SB rings and SB MVPs and beating TB12 both times is part of reason he will get into HOF

His last name isn’t hurting his cause

Ironically I think playing in New York kinda hurts him, if was on Jacksonville he wouldn’t have received 90% of the hate he got in his career because no one would pay attention besides the playoffs

New York and cowboys is all National radio and espn talks about. Somehow playing the cowboys on Fox every sunday on Fox

Pre-red zone he would have hidden a lot of his sloppy performance

Same as ben Roethlisberger. He will also get in, but was never close to being the top QB in the league.

He led the league in yards twice. He was really good in the 10s before the wheels fell off the last couple of years

He was definitely an elite QB for a 6 year run. As dependable as you could want in a QB. His case is way stronger than Eli, IMO

Giants defense won those Super Bowls, holding the 2007 Patriots to 14 points

That defense was forgotten about. So was the heavy criticism of Manning during the 2007 regular season.

Eli Manning during the 2007 regular season led the league in INTs. He just wasn’t very good at all. Also had a dropped INT right before that crazy helmet catch. His defense held an offense that was avg 31ppg to 14 pts while his offense scored 17 against a defense that was giving up 17. In other words an avg performance. He deserves some credit for the SB but he gets way way too much credit for it.

He deserves a lot of credit for the 2011’s seasons SB. Unlike the 2007 season, that was a season in which a QB shouldered a lot of responsibility and high quality play throughout the whole year. A QB like that deserves tons of credit for that SB win. He threw for almost 5K yards and a still post season record 1200+ passing yards.
