Agree AlonsoWDC. TCU has been in the B12 for a while now. Not comparable to SDSU, Creighton, or FAU.
If TCU did that during their MWC run then I would agree, but they didn’t. The powers that be wouldn’t let TCU or Boise St. dismantle the system.
This is why college basketball and baseball is superior to college football, imo.

Great for those programs but I don’t see any of them beating UConn or Texas

Why not? They’ve been doing it all year.

They beat UConn once. Not saying it won’t happen because shite…FAU is in the final four. But UConn was playing well before the tourney and they’re playing better than just about everyone

Creighton is in a power conference and has top ten talent, but people keep lumping them in with FAU and SDSU as if they are a mid major Creighton is literally in the same conference as UCONN.

As far as basketball, I guess this new Big East is considered a power conference. San Diego St. is probably a better team though. We’ll see here soon. Does the Big East receive P5 money now for their basketball conference? If they do, then yes they’re a power conference.

The Big East got five teams in the NCAA Tournament this year, and that is with some traditional powers, like Villanova, being down. Their teams were seeded 2, 3, 4, 6, and 11. Two of them are still playing. The conference has multiple programs in it that have made Final Fours (literally almost the entire league), two multi-time national champions, and another modern era national champion. The Big East is a power conference. It’s not debatable

If Creighton is a Cinderella, then so is UConn.

Great! Hopefully San Diego St. will beat them. I didn’t realize how great the new Big East schools are. No way a lesser MWC or CUSA school should beat them.

Wtf are you even talking about? I never said SDSU or FAU couldn’t win. This thread and discussion is about the unlikelihood of these three programs competing for a national championship, and I’m saying that Creighton doesn’t fit with the other two.

Pretty sure Creighton and SD State alrwdy played this year in Maui and Creighton beat them.

A healthy Arkansas tram was also in that tourney and beat SD State in OT. They also battled Creighton to the wire and lost.

All 3 of those teams are basically equal and Uconn just destroyed Ark (albeit w/O their full squad), but regardless, UCONN is an absolute death machine right now, but I don't think Creighton would be scared of them at all if they played.

Creighton does fit with the other two. How many Final 4’s has Creighton been to? This new age Big East conference is a tweener conference between the mid-majors and P5. Not the same conference it was back in the 80’s or 90’s,but still better overall than the mid majors. That’s the point I’m trying to get across.

Creighton has been to zero FFs. Neither has Alabama, yet no one considered them a Cinderella with the likes of Princeton, SDSU, FAU, etc. Creighton was ranked highly in the preseason because of how talented they are. Also, the Big East is not a “tweener conference.” You’re wrong. It’s a power conference, and you’re coming across as stupid by even arguing that point. Danny Hurley called it the best league in the country tonight in his postgame. I think that is a stretch, but it’s certainly a damn good one.

ETA:
Championships won by schools currently in the Big East since 2000: 5
Championships won by schools currently in the Big Ten since 2000: 2
SEC: 3
Big 12: 3
PAC: 0
ACC: 9

Power conference.

FAU winning would just be the most incomprehensible thing for me. It’s a nice local commuter school that is just trying to grow their brand. Would love that to happen.

FAU was 13 in the NET going into the tourney. The committee underseeded them based on their own criteria

They won their national titles before WWII and have only been in the Big XII about a decade.

Creighton is in a major conference for basketball unless you’re going to tell me Jay Wright’s dominant Villanova teams were Cinderella stories. Creighton plays in a near 20,000 seat arena.

San Diego State will likely be in a major conference by the end of the year and is a much larger university than TCU.

One of them is about to be put on probation. Can’t have programs like these showing up P5 ESPN darlings.

Even if this was true, it’s also true of the Big XII in football.

Their athletic budgets say otherwise. TCU’s is nearly double SDSU.
