This team was pretty good before the off-season and now they are very good.

That's what is confusing me. I get that the media anointment is annoying, and I don't hardly think the Eagles are unstoppable, but this was a damn good team last year, with Vick getting hurt and a shitty OL, horrible DC and worse players on defense.

Hell, if not for the defense, they could have gone far in the playoffs. Cullen Jenkins, DRC, Nnamdi will surely improve that. THe offense will be fine, if not spectacular. The linebackers are my primary concern, but if Samuel gets shipped, that could very well net a quality LB. Really though, none of the Eagles teams have really had a standout linebacking core... Jeremiah Trotter is the best LB they've had in the past decade... and have almost always fielded competent defensive teams.

that type of logic had the Vikings winning the super bowl last year

I am sure you predicted the Vikes to go down in extraordinary flames last year, right?

I'm not as worried about that as others. There's still some shite there, but we hired HOward Mudd, who is really good, so I think it will be improved. But that's the other big question mark, yes.

Yeah, it must suck to have an elite QB

It doesn't since the Saints have one.

Philly doesn't know what a elite QB is, unless u think VICK is elite- which is a joke

I'm sure you're being sarcastic, but really.

The eagles tried to get several other DCs and failed. They hired their OLine Coach to be their Defensive Coordinator.

does that have anything to do with the extremely shitty logic of "________ almost beat the champions and got 2 new players so they must be on the brink of a championship"? The Saints beat the Bucs twice the year Tampa won the title. Haslett must have been in the title race that next year.

If you don't think 2010 Vick was not elite, then I really do not know what to tell you. I am not an Eagles fan, in fact, I hate the Eagles, but at least I can look at sports without a huge bias.

Elite QB's IMO:
Manning
Brady
Brees
Rodgers
Roethlisberger
Rivers
Vick

Vick will take a huge step back. NO WAY in hell he plays that good again. Or get injured. And they have Vince Young waiting in the wings.

their defense has holes all over at this point. We'll see if they address them.

they are the media dream team but will be far from it on the field

you can't just throw out the broken leg and pretend it was a freak accident. Vick plays a style of football that is going to leave him exposed to taking plenty of hits like that, the older he gets the more likely he'll continue to get nicked up

Not really.

Yeah, I know. On the surface it looks stupid. Castillo actually started his career as a defensive guy and came to Philly and fought hard to get any job he could, wound up as an offensive assistant, living out of his car and scrapped his way into being known as one of the better OL coaches in the NFL.

I was taken aback by the move, but after doing a good bit of reading about it, I'm okay with it. He's known for being a great teacher... McD tried to be exotic and flashy with the D and it failed. He was no Jim Johnson. Castillo was actually called upon by JJ quite a bit for insight... he has a really sound, all-around approach to football and I think he'll be able to relate concepts to the players better than the last guy. He's a tireless worker...

There's only so many superlatives I can use, and I realize most non-Eagles fans think the move was stupid and ridiculous. Unless you think it's blind luck, Reid's track record over the past decade speaks for itself. If he thinks Juan can do the job, I am in no position to disagree.

Plus we hired Jim Washburn, who I think will make this a DL-oriented scheme, and obviously adding Nnamdi on the back end makes their lives easier. There's so much potential from this unit, it wouldn't surprise me if it were top 5 by year's end.

broken legs in football usually are? from what i remember it was a pre-season game, in the dome, he got caught from behind, his cleat stuck in the turf... it broke. that's fairly "freak" accident.

i guess because he runs a good bit there will always be concerns about him getting hurt, but i don't buy the "he's injury prone" meme, personally.
