The thing the committee might actually think Brees is a top 10 QB. If you look at these lists and the fact that’s a celebration of the league’s history, then you can see that they were purposely trying to include only a small number of players from each era. So Brees and Rodgers were essentially competing with Brady and Manning for the 2 spots of this era.

This guy gets it

I do find it humerous that many who ridiculed Tony Romo forever because he didnt win a SB have now discovered that SB wins might in fact be a team stat after all

In your opinion, is there a position in team sports that has more bearing on wins & losses than quarterback

It is a lot higher on the list than some around here would lead you to believe.

For example, over his career Brees has a QB rating of 110.5 in wins and 82.8 in losses. That type of delta is true for every all-time great I've looked at. Rodgers is the highest I've found thus far at 87.1

The simple fact is, if you are losing football games statistically more often than not you got a shite-to-mediocre performance out of your QB, even if they are elite.

The list looks about right to me. Can’t reward a QB who consistently plays like shite in the playoffs nearly his entire career (Brees). Racking up stats in the modern era during the regular season really isn’t that impressive

Laughing at all the morons who claim Brees should have made this list. How the hell can you defend a player who almost always plays like shite in the playoffs? For god sakes, they were heavy favorites at home and lost to a team led by Kirk fricking Cousins. Bahahahahaha

Are you slow?

Drew sucked today, but he's been a beast in the playoffs more often than not.

Brees' game today was better than Tom Brady's average playoff game

That's what I find hilarious

He literally plays better, then is trashed for playing like crap and loses because the defense shite the bed on the last drive again = Brady ringz!!

It’s fricking hilarious that wins count so much in a game with the most players

It is hilarious. I’m sure drew is just laughing it up right now in the locker room after losing “but muh stats!!!”

That’s my point

But I understand how a Georgia and Falcons fan wouldn’t get it

Players want to win. Shocker, I know.

However, when you're tanking all timers, you should only consider what they can control. This isn't rocket science.

And the quarterback position has more control over who wins and who loses than any other position in sports. So wins matter when we are discussing them.

More control does not equal full control.

1 QB can have his team score more points, more yards, and less turnovers in the postseason and have infinitely less team success. So it's wayyyyyyy less control than you seem to think.

Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl. Tim Tebow won a playoff game. All that control!!!

He has total control of the offense. That's more control than any other player is afforded on the field. He 100% responsible for 1/3 of the game. His play also effects what his team's defense does or doesn't do, so you can definitely argue that his shadow looms over at least two-thirds of the team. That's a long shadow. And while it's not necessarily total control, it's as close to total control as it gets in team sports.

True. But more often than not, if you have a great QB leading your team, you're going to make the playoffs.

There are exceptions to every rule. Yes, Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl but how many times did go back? Yes...Tim Tebow won a playoff game but how many more did he win after that?
