Drew Brees is the unluckiest QB of all time. Stats to prove it

quote:
Brees has retaken the lead 21 times in his Saints career, or 7.3% of his games on a go-ahead scoring drive, only to watch helplessly from the sidelines as his defenses cave under pressure and allow their opponents to surge back with their own salvo. That number includes the playoffs, and ties the total set by Brady, Manning, and Rodgers combined
quote:
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has had to put up with this unique incompetence only four times in the 322 games he’s played in the NFL.(1.2%)
quote:
Retired great Peyton Manning dealt with just six such answering-score comebacks from teams he put on the ropes throughout his 266-game career.(2.2%)
quote:
Green Bay Packers signal-caller Aaron Rodgers has had it the worst of the non-Brees bunch, watching his defense fold against 11 last-second efforts (out of 195 career games)(5.6%).
quote:
Let’s reiterate that, to really drive the point home: Brady, Manning, and Rodgers have put their team ahead with a would-be game-winning drive only to lose anyway a combined 21 times in the 783 games they’ve played in the NFL, while Brees has found himself in the same situation 21 times in just 287 games.
quote:Thats remarkable
In other words, the combined defenses Brady, Manning, and Rodgers played with let them down in 2.7% of the games they’ve each played, while Brees has had to face his defense with a thousand-yard stare in 7.3% of their games together.

Link or is this your autism at work?

Next year when the saints are back to their default of less than mediocre you'll see how much he elevated them.

2011 49ers game we went ahead when it was already under 2 minutes and the 49ers were out of timeouts. 2017 Minny Miracle we took the lead with 25 seconds left and still lost.
A lot of clutch drives from #9 in big games that will go completely forgotten. It's a shame.

Only 21 for Brady, Rodgers, and Manning COMBINED

Brees would have at least 1 more ring if his defense wasn't so horrid for the majority of his career

Just sucks he had to play with a franchise that couldn’t build talent around him.

quote:The saints merely needed a mediocre defense to have more titles in his career. Instead, they had historically awful ones. Quite impressive really

He gave up a “gimmie” 56 yarder in OT for the loss

How about qbs like stafford whose defenses don't even allow them a chance to have a late lead? I'd say they are probably unluckier

That's what you get when you have a head coach who couldn't care less about defense until his franchise QB's arm is all but dead.

This is old but relevant
quote:
Drew Brees has 19 lost comebacks, easily the most in NFL history. Manning and Brady only have seven each. Brett Favre played the most games at QB ever (326) and had nine lost comebacks.
quote:
No other quarterback in NFL history has more than nine, and Manning and Brady have four each.
quote:
A Brees-led team has now lost 39 games after leading in the fourth quarter or overtime, the most in NFL history for a quarterback. Manning (27) and Brady (19) don’t even have 30 such games. It was also the 26th loss for Brees with a passer rating over 100, another NFL record (min. 10 attempts). Manning (11) and Brady (10) have 21 combined.
quote:
Most GWD in NFL history (includes playoffs):
Tom Brady – 57
Peyton Manning – 56
Drew Brees – 53
Dan Marino – 51
John Elway – 46
Ben Roethlisberger – 46
Brett Favre – 45
Eli Manning – 42
Johnny Unitas – 40
Matt Ryan – 38
quote:
Third place is still really impressive for Brees, but it doesn’t tell the full story. Take Sunday for example when Brees gave the Saints a 46-45 lead with 53 seconds left after trailing 42-33 earlier in the quarter. That one doesn’t count because the defense allowed a game-winning field goal with no time left.
That game is what I refer to as a lost comeback — a game where a quarterback brought his team from behind in the fourth quarter to a lead, but still did not win the game.
quote:
Drew Brees has 19 lost comebacks, easily the most in NFL history. Manning and Brady only have seven each. Brett Favre played the most games at QB ever (326) and had nine lost comebacks. Philip Rivers has the most failed comeback attempts in NFL history (73), but only nine were lost comebacks. Ben Roethlisberger (nine), John Elway (eight), and Dan Marino (seven) didn’t crack double-digits either.

When Jeff Ireland came in they did build talent around him, but by then he was out of his prime.

quote:Very unlucky, but Id venture to say Brees average team scoring defense ranking is similar to Staffords
How about qbs like stafford whose defenses don't even allow them a chance to have a late lead?
But I do think the Saints with Stafford these last two years would have been legit contenders

WOW... NOW I AM BUZZED.................................

Or maybe, he just couldn’t throw a 40 yard seam on Sunday, which caused his team to be eliminated?

Posted on 1/21/21 at 3:40 pm to lsupride87
Now that is good stuff. You never get shite like this on the big networks though.
Posted on 1/21/21 at 3:40 pm to lsupride87
Brees is so unlucky to turn the ball over at opportune times. Over and over again.
