Look, I like Peyton. I don't like the Broncos, but I like Peyton. I really thought he could make the case for GOAT last year, but he had two really bad interceptions.

Even if Peyton wins a Super Bowl this year, I wouldn't call him the GOAT.

The first pick was blatant pass interference. It was right on the money, but Decker's arm was pulled down before the ball got there and it went straight to the defender, who returned it for 6. It was reminiscent of the Auburn game in 2006. Not sure how you can call that a really bad pick. The second pick never should have been an issue because they should have won in regulation. Rahim Moore allowed an 80 yard bomb in the last few minutes of the game. Inexcusable.

I don't know. I maybe someone can get the gif or the youtube link, but I thought the ball was thrown behind Decker.

Definitely not. My description was a little off because it actually hit Decker in the face and bounced off. See the video here. Announcer; "Peyton put it on the money...tip drill there...Ravens definitely got away with one."

So to base his legacy on how many rings he has is lazy analysis.

I agree. How many total playoff games has he played? Is it a statistically significant number? Luck dominates small sample sizes.

He has played in 20 playoff games and has won only 9 of them. By comparison, Joe Montana played in 23 playoff games - winning 16. His contemporary and rival, Tom Brady, has played in 24 playoff games and has won 17 of them.

Started off 10-0 when he was not elite and had a top 5 defense. Since then he is 7-7 despite being one of the two best QB's in the league during that period, losing two super bowls.

why are you not taking into account opponent field goals and drops and missed tackles into this stat?

You are seriously mocking me for providing context? You are either an extreme Brady homer or simply lack the intelligence to engage in reasonable discourse. I'll assume the latter and move along.

Every player has context. It's a wash when you disregard everyone's context. You only want context on Peyton's career.

Dude, i'm not even bringing up brady. You can't keep brady out your mouth.

I've been very reasonable with my responses to you.

Hey may have not not been elite but he was clutch. In their 3 Super Bowl victories it was Tom Brady who led his team down the field, with the score tied, to put his team in position to win the game.

You really don't see anything wrong with this logic?

Tom Brady leads his team to FG range, Vinatieri makes game winning kick, Brady is clutch.

Peyton Manning leads his team to FG range, Vanderjagt misses game winning kick, Manning is a terrible choker.

Growing up as a kid, it seemed to me that Bart Starr and Johnny Unitas could be listed as 1A and 1B as best quarterbacks ever.

Now, I don't have a problem with calling Peyton Manning and Tom Brady the 1A and 1B of this eras best quarterbacks.

BTW, I'm 65.

Until he has more playoff wins in Denver than Tebow, what happens in the regular season in inconsequential.

I hate this. I really do, with a passion.

Tim Tebow may have won a playoff game, but he got just as far as the Denver Broncos did the very next season with Peyton Manning (we got a bye thanks to a 13-3 record). We just so happened to lose to the eventual Super Bowl champ on a fluke play. It's not Peyton Manning's fault that Rahim Moore completely misjudged a 70 bomb that I could've tipped down. There was 30 seconds on the clock, the Ravens were down by 7, and they had no timeouts.

That's the thing though..unless you go on multiple super bowl or at least conference championship runs it's almost impossible to have a record .5 or better because it's single elimination.

with the exception of the super bowl in 09, it is so disappointing not to see him perform at a high level in the playoffs. He is on another level against any and all teams throughout the year, and then he gets to the playoffs and just shits himself.

denver in 04...otherwise there haven't been too many peyton manning like performances in the playoffs. the 2nd half of the jets game in 09. what else?

FWIW, Peyton Manning ripped the Denver Broncos defense apart twice in the early 2000s, in two consecutive years.

I remember...mainly because it was painful to watch.

Well, there were two stompings of Denver in 03 and 04, one of which was the only perfect QB rating game in the playoffs since the 60s:
22/26 377 yards 5 TDs and a perfect 158.3 rating
27/33 458 yards 4 TDs and 1 Int for a 145.7 rating

There was also the game against the Jets in 09, which football outsiders ranks as one of the single greatest QB performances of all time. Jets had the #1 D in the NFL (and one of the best historically) and Manning went:
26/39 for 377 yards and 3 TDs for a 123.6 rating

Then there was an annihilation of KC in 04:
22/30 304 yards 3 TDs for a 138.7 rating

Manning has had some of the best single game performances in the playoffs bro
