It's up to the university or professional team. Basically, many high schools use the existing logos until they're told to stop. St. Amant for many years had a gator head logo borrowed from Florida until the University filed a cease and desist. They also had another logo, an "STA" with the letters intertwined and part of the S being a gator's tail, that logo was deemed "too similar" to that of St. Thomas Aquinas so they lost both their logos.

This was PCA's original logo compared to what PSU uses.

This is what PCA changed it to.

I believe their mascot is the panthers.

What about Green Bay, UGA, and Grambling all having the same "G".

UGA has an agreement with the Packers that let's them use it.

As far as high schools, it's up to the universities. Some care, some don't. UF has started making high schools change but they've been pretty cool about it. They usually give them 5-10 years to make the necessary changes since it can cost a good chunk of change.

I doubt most colleges do anything.

Missouri went after tiny Green Forest Arkansas for their logo that wasn't all that close at all. However, they did not go after Bentonville who has the same colors and practically the same tiger head.

Missouri is a bunch of bitch arse bullies that only went after the school with no money or Wal*Mart resources behind them.

actually they can get hammered..

ask st. amant and I think st thomas more about having to change their logos.

The NFL is actually more forgiving than collegiate licensing.

Union Parish's rings this year. I'm surprised Miami hasn't gone after them yet. I know Miami went after Union, Oklahoma.

Edited. Didn't realize it had a name on box.

Byrd pays Georgia Tech $1 annually to use the Buzz logo. At least they did circa 2002

Walmart money paid for their new arena. I'm sure it was more a gentleman's agreement than bullying.
