I think there is just a unspoken rule that college leave the high schools alone. They'd look like complete assholes in going after the schools.

What I would think would be that maybe the big 5A 6A schools that get big time national exposure would pay the colleges. But then again I heard U-High had to change their helmet logo because of University of Miami. They had the classic U logo in yellow and white.

If you gain enough exposure, then they'll come after you. Same thing happened to STM in Lafayette with Penn State.

The only big-time college logo that isn't trademarked is Notre Dame's "ND." Anyone can use this any time they want.

A coach told me that high schools will usually have slight differences from the logo they imitate to avoid copyright or trademark fees. I was looking at a school that had the Arkansas logo, but the razorback had green eyes at the school

I know a ton of schools that use the Green Bay/Georgia/Grambling "G". I guess color makes all the difference.

Penn State made Prattville Christian Academy change their logo about 3 years or so ago.

PCA altered the logo enough, but PSU still had to go after them just to protect the trademark.

Green Bay actually owns the trademark to the G. Color doesn't matter, they could still go after you.

Either that or the crosseyed frick with the axes behind his head.

Yep! Was actually cool for a while in the early-mid 2000s when our fans were good. Since the fans suck it also sucks though.

Would they have grounds to go after Cecilia?

Go to this website and look at how many copy colleges. At least one third of them are infringing on trademarks if this exists.

And that doesn't even go into the NFL. There are several Patriots and Raiders logos in there.

I'm actually shocked that the NFL even allows this to happen. They don't let churches have "Super Bowl" parties.

Here's a school in Grenada, MS that is simultaneously ripping off the Denver Broncos' horse and the Green Bay "G" in one picture.

They aren't even the Grenada Fighting Broncos - they're the Grenada Chargers.

I know. You'd think they'd be able to design their own version of their logos

True. Protection of trademark is on the owner. Don't protect it and you lose it.

You can't have letters above an animal without infringing on LSU?

And who is this infringing on?

I don't think Alabama has any licenses on numbers on the helmet. We aren't even the only college team to have them.
