Does anybody else hate the constant ESPN ticker?

And for that matter, all news agencies non-stop ticker. It is mind-boggling. I used to love it as a kid before all games were televised or easily accessible, now it just disrupts my focus on the game itself. I find myself watching it over the content and I cannot help myself. I wish we could go back to the :28/:58 marks where they would scroll....and not give the stats of the nine-hole hitter who is 0-for-3 with an RBI.

It’s annoying during times like this when there’s nothing going on. I love it during football season though

Love it during football season. Don’t care for it now

Thanks Osama. Literally.
Those started on 9/11.

Right on, I too remember when that became a permanent fixture post-9/11 on sports and cable news.

The worst is when I'm watching a replay and the ticker shows the result of the game in watching.
Nothing like watching the replay of a Formula 1 race that aired live at 3 AM and seeing the finishing order scroll across the bottom during the pre-race show

I don’t mind it if it’s flashing scores from other games. It’s when it’s the same 3 or 4 “headlines” repeated for 3 hours that it gets annoying.

You aren’t interested in the game you’re watching. Your tv is on because you’re addicted to it.

especially when it's a non headline. Like they will scroll "Breaking News: Lebron says players won't visit White House" for hours.

28 and 58 past the hour was good enough

It’s the absolute worst thing. I think Espn used to do it every 15 minutes or so when I was a kid. I think 9/11 started the 24/7 news scroll for everything else. I wish it would go away and only come on during commercials or truly “breaking news”.
I can’t tell you how many sporting events I’ve had ruined because of the goddamn ticker.
And God forbid you have severe weather in your area too. Then you have a whole other graphic to contend with.

We’ve all got the internet now, bottom line/ticker is outdated. I think it’s okay for NFL fantasy updates but it shouldn’t be up the whole game.

Sometimes it is better to just mute the television and read what flows across the ticker. Talking heads get aggravating.
