I have been on a crusade against the ticker for a decade.

Started long ago on ESPN2. Was great back then, when updated scores were hard to come by.

Now, we all have easy, instant access to every score of interest. The ticker is just distracting clutter at the bottom of my screen, taking up space and spoiling games I recorded to watch later.

Lose the ticker!

Hated it and the constant clock since it started in the mid 90’s

28 and 58 past the hour was good enough

I think this is all you need. I emphasize the point...when the 28/58 ticker was there, not many games were on tv. I remember when ESPN2 came out. As a little kid, the SEC games were ESPN, ABC, and Jefferson Pilot. Yes, Jefferson Pilot played the 3rd best game on the slate. Hell, JP hosted multiple top 15 games (LSU @ Auburn 2002 being the last). So, you needed the ticker. Now, EVERY game is on some channel or on your phone instantly. It is info overload, distracting, and too busy.

I think they’re a relic of the 90’s and early 2000’s. The Bottom Line was much better when it was only used twice an hour. In this age of cell phones and social media, it’s pointless.

A few years ago, the NFL made ESPN take it off the screen during a live play. Made the game a lot more appealing.

ESPN's ticker this past football season was an eyesore because of the yellow graphics card in the bottom right corner below the scoreboard. My peripheral vision kept seeing it and I kept thinking it was a flag.

You could try the TV Jockstrap. It's a soft elastic strap that wraps around the screen and covers the Score Tickers or News Tickers.
I saw it on Amazon and it's also at tvjockstrap.com.

Enjoy!!
