college has nothing to do with it
and you won't win much with 6-6 centers, which is what you'd have to rely on with the NYC team
and you're completely failing to accept just how much training/skill you have to develop

I was just trying to think of a mid sized scorer/slasher
I believe he went to Utah State
I believe he went to Utah State

he didn't make it the first season because he wasn't flashy but I forgot who they chose. The next season he was back on that bus though. Not sure if he ever got signed on though

Very little talent. All heart and effort. Definition of a lunch pail player. Bad example.

You don't think they're developing any skill or training out there? I'm not saying you can run a street ball offense and be successful, but you can find 5 guys, teach them an offense, and I think they could compete.
Again, I'm not saying you can go grab any ole 5 guys from the streets. But I do think there are 5 out there somewhere that can compete.

I mean there's what, 30 million people in NYC? You don't think there are 5 that can play at an NBA level?
The Knicks??
Seriously though, there may be 5 that possessed the size, talent, skill to play in the NBA at one point in their lives, but not right this moment. There aren't 5 guys who are just ballin on playgrounds that no one knows about that are NBA ready.
The type of training and practice needed to stay at an NBA level is not found in everyday people.

Well we'll have to agree to disagree.

And 1 mixtape tour tried this. They found some good players but rarely NBA talent. NBA talent isn't exactly hidden most starters have ridiculous stats in high school like 25-35ppg or are like 6'11".

there's only 300 or so openings in the NBA, and they take the best players in the world, so no.

Chuck Hayes is like 6'6 or 6'8 playing center with no real jump shot and he's still carved out a pretty decent career
just because he may not be good relative to other NBA players, does not mean he's not better than guys that are not in the league. There could be a couple of guys that fall thru the cracks, but not enough to make it a commodity.

not even close to what you get in college, let alone the NBA.

Define "compete"? Take the best 5 street guys you can find and the worst team in the NBA smokes them.

Ehhhhhh. They turned down quite a few guys because they weren't flashy enough.

Yeah, I remember them cutting legitimately good players (not NBA worthy obviously) in favor of the guys who threw down 2 monster dunks.

Agreed, 'street ball' isn't 'NBA ball'.
