Bonds prior to steroids hit more than 45 Hrs once in 14 his years in the big leagues,
It didn't hurt that the Giants built a field specifically for Barry to hit the ball out of around that time. I mean have you ever seen that porch in right? Freakin joke.
Also, MLB was fully in support of players taking steroids between 95-2005 when they were recovering from the 94 strike. They knew big bad bashers would put butts back in the seats....and they were right. Now, they are crucifying their own to cover their own arse.

plus the old Candlestick was an absolute graveyard. If Barry had been playing at pac bell park his whole career he may have hit 1000 bombs.

Let me preface this by saying I hate Barry Bonds, but just thinking about someone hitting 73 homers is one year is absolutely sick. I don't care what he was on, that takes a ridiculous amount of focus and talent. AND steroids. ha.
Juice helped, but there has never been another player as zoned in as Barry was that year. And there never will be again. He got 1 pitch a game to hit and he hit it out. If they had actually pitched to him that year, he would have hit over 100 pretty easily.

I agree this wasn't given enough attention, look at his body size changes through the years, its obvious he juiced. But you won't here it come out for one reason, he was the poster child of baseball.

You can't get mad at the players that were doing this stuff before 2005. MLB will NEVER admit it but they loved the steroid era until they starting getting heat.

What's so funny about it? I think Frank Thomas is clean. He was pretty much the only guy talking out about steroids in baseball in the mid-90s, even before Ken Caminiti talked about his steroid use in a Sports Illustrated interview several years after his MVP.
His numbers didn't jump at the same time as guys like Brady Anderson, Luis Gonzales, and Miguel Tejada, who suddenly started posting very different numbers, and he is one of the only guys other than Griffey and Pujols who was in no way associated with BALCO or Jose Canseco. If I remember correctly, he was also the only guy who gave voluntary testimony to that Senate committee, and he gave actual answers to the Senators rather than that McGwire bullshite.

Frank would be the one clean guy in the whole mess of players in the mid-late 90's.
He was huge from birth just like Herman Johnson, who by the way is the biggest baby ever born in Louisiana. Didn't know if you guys knew that or not.

Pac Bell/SBC/ATT Park is not a homerun hitters park, take out Bonds HR and the LH homeruns are well below average.
There was some talk immediately after the World Series of Bonds leaving the Giants and moving to another team. Although it's an academic question now that Bonds has (probably) confirmed his San Francisco deal, it is interesting to see how much difference a switch may have made to Bonds' odds of being crowned home run king.
AT&T Park is not known as the most porous of yards, so it is fair to assume that Bonds’ production would increase if he moved—actually in 2006 AT&T Park had the lowest home run park factor in the bigs!

1)Bonds got his juice from Jr.
2)anyone who doesn't think Biggio juiced is blind.

The more important question is who cares? When people weren't taking roids the NFL jumped leaps and bounds past baseball as Americas past time. With all this talk about people on roids, Do we really care? Does it make the game a little more watchable? I think it does. The guy is still fun to watch whether he is on roids or he is a machine, He is watchable. Let them all take steroids and even the playing field. Every era had its advantages for their numbers and steroids is our advantage for this era.

Looks like I have been bested. Well done. good info right there.
However, the right field line at AT&T park is 309. Similar to most high school fields and well short of the average college park.

I'm not reading these 4 pages, but how many Cardinals homers have come in here and said no?
Posted on 5/8/09 at 11:47 am to bee Rye
not many. this thread proves what ive been saying. people are jealous of pujols. he gets brought up more than double anyone else in the "do you think this guy is on roids" threads.

That's bullshite, he gets brought up because everyone thinks he is clean because he likes Jesus.

That was terrible sentence structure by me, sorry.
Everyone thinks he's not on roids because he likes Jesus, which is dumb.
