I don’t think the NFL wants to fix DPI. These ridiculous spot fouls are huge momentum shifters that they believe keeps the game more entertaining.

the NFL is also just simply pro-offense

again, same justification for the stupid forward momentum interpretations

Ive seen this guy pump fake a shot, defender jumps into the air(not going to land into wade as he cone down), wade would lean and jump into the defender as he’s falling down initiating contact. Wade goes to the free throw line. It’s a chicken shite rule.

Brady's arm looks fine on throws over the middle and sideline throws. The only time it looks noodle is whenever he's throwing deep balls or like sideline wheel-type routes.

I'm sure it's partly because of his arm strength declining, but it also is probably partly strategic and intentional to throw the ball that high in the air. Throwing the ball that high makes it harder for the defender to find the ball, therefore making DPI a much higher probability. And also giving his own player a better chance to make a play on the ball.

Basically Brady, Belichick and the Patriots are smart.

Well yeah, that’s when arm strength is obvious. Deep throws.

You don’t think he’d rather do this

I mean I get the “try for DPI” stuff, but I don’t think that’s the number 1 objective. It’s more like a 50/50 ball where you either catch it or get the PI.

What’s funny about your example...

...was he under threw the ball

I'm sure he would, but he probably can't anymore, as I stated about his arm strength declining.

When Brees misses deep balls, there's not much air under them and they are underthrown with not much chance of anything good happening. Brady now underthrows them a lot, but the loft on the ball makes it more likely that good things will happen.

Like I said, Brady even puts a ton of loft on the ball on wheel routes to sideline to running backs. Or on plays like that ball to Amendola on 4th down early in the game yesterday.

I'm not saying his arm hasn't declined, I'm just saying it is also intentional sometimes for him to throw balls how he does.

The gif is slightly sped up for bandwidth purposes.

In real time it’s more obvious the WR slowed down across the middle for the loft pass to land in his breadbasket and...you guessed it...that caused contact with the defender(s)

Your best example proves my point

What?

He was like a yard past his man and beat the safety to the inside

Is this underthrown?

Or this

Is that supposed to be another “good” example?

That’s just MORE proof Brady has to loft the ball and let his defenders come back to it because he lacks accuracy due to a noodle arm.

So a 40 yard throw is supposed to prove your point? Every QB in the NFL can throw it that far.

The fact THAT PASS is amazing for Brady FURTHER proves the point.

You are losing.

Please tell me which one of those slightly overthrown balls required the receiver to come back to it?

I hate on Brady more than anyone on the MSB.

And I wasn't thrilled about the calls last night.

But he hasn't made a career out of these calls. This is a ref problem. Not a Brady or noodle arm problem.

Well, I know for certain that bottom gif of Moss was like 10 years ago. No one said Brady didn't used to have a strong arm. He's 40 years old. He doesn't have the arm strength he once did.

Matt Ryan does the same thing. It was VERY evident yesterday that Brady was just exploiting the rules and knew he wasn't gonna complete those passes without PI being called. It frustrates me that Brees doesn't do this more, but he's not a PU**Y like Brady/Ryan.

But Brady has figured it how to adapt at 40 to still be the MVP of the league. :sunglasses:
